Season of Reflection, Celebration, and Achievement

Tamy Stubley

As we begin our final term of the year, it is wonderful to see the energy and enthusiasm return to the college. The start of Term 4 always carries a special sense of anticipation, it is a time of reflection, celebration, and looking ahead to new beginnings.

“When we give girls the chance to see what they’re capable of, they don’t just meet expectations, they redefine them.” Dr. Cathy Foley, Australia’s Chief Scientist

This quote captures the spirit of Melbourne Girls’ College, a community that champions excellence, teamwork, and diversity through the power of education. Everyday, our students remind us of the positive change that comes when young women are supported to lead and achieve.

Term 3 concluded on a positive note, and I would like to extend my sincere thanks to parents and carers for another successful turnout at our Parent, Student, Teacher Conferences held in the final week of term. The strong partnerships between home and school are central to the success of our students, and your continued engagement makes an enormous difference.

The holiday break was both purposeful and eventful. Congratulations to our Aerobics Team, who competed at the National Championships in Queensland; the way they supported one another and represented Melbourne Girls’ College was outstanding. Well done also to the students who participated in the Rowing Camp, demonstrating commitment and teamwork as they prepare for the upcoming season.

A special mention goes to those involved in the State Schools Spectacular, whose efforts on such a grand stage showcased their creativity and talent. Finally, recognition to our senior students who dedicated much of their break to study and exam preparation, your hard work and perseverance are truly commendable.

Looking ahead, Term 4 promises to be an exciting and significant one. We have commenced the long awaited toilet upgrades for students and staff, a project driven by the advocacy of our Student Representative Council (SRC) over the past few years. This is a wonderful example of student voice leading to real change within the college.

In the coming weeks, we will be celebrating our Year 12 students, reflecting on their time at MGC and the legacy they will leave behind. It is a privilege to celebrate them as they complete their final chapter with us and prepare for what comes next.

Thank you again for your ongoing support of our college community. Term 4 is always fast paced and full of milestones, but together, we will ensure it is a rewarding and memorable finish to another remarkable year at Melbourne Girls’ College.
