Dear Parents & Parishioners,
The official opening of the OHR Art Show commences at
6.30pm this evening. Please plan to arrive by 6.20pm.
Last year, the Fight Cancer Foundation raised alomost $548,000 to help kids with cancer. 1,362 organisations, including OHR, registered for the annual Footy Colours Day fundraiser.
Fight Cancer Foundation’s Footy Colours Day is a national fundraising event in September where thousands of Australians come together to show their support for kids with cancer.
Key services provided by the Fight Cancer Foundation include: providing safe, temporary accommodation for patients and families who must travel far from home for treatment; education support programs for children; and it also funds cancer research (including establishing the BMDI Cord Blood Bank).
Next Friday is Footy Colours Day at OHR where we aim to raise money to support kids with cancer. Our students are encouraged to come to school on this day wearing the colours of their favourite footy team. Further details, and how you can donate to this cause, can be found on the P.E. News page.
OHR Art Show
When: Tonight. For any parents unable to attend this evening, some of the spaces will be open this Friday.
Time: 6.30 – 7.45pm. Please assemble outside the hall by 6.25pm for launch and keynote address.
Where: Artworks will be on display in a number of key areas, including: the Hall; Year 3/4 learning area; the stairwell leading down to the junior area; and the Undercroft.
What else is on? A number of hampers can be won during the night. Raffle tickets will be on sale during the evening. $2 per ticket or 3 tickets for $5. We encourage you to bring along gold coins or small denominations of paper notes to purchase the raffle tickets. Crdit card purchases can also be made.
It’s important to note that the Art Show is a family affair, in other words, children should remain with their families at all times. We encourage families to take their time. Children should not be moving about the Art Show by themselves. Toileting facilities for children will be identified as separate to those available for adults. Teaching staff will be assigned a variety of roles during the night to assist with the smooth running of the Art Show and, therefore, will not be there in a supervisory capacity.

Monday's Assembly
Due to the fact that the Art Show displays in the hall will be taken down this Monday, the weekly assembly will be held in the church.

Today is R U OK?Day. So now is a great time to pause and connect with those around you. Asking ‘are you OK?’ can help someone feel seen, supported and connected. This is an opportunity to fully connect with the people around us by starting a conversation with those who may be struggling with life.
You don't need to be an expert to reach out - just a good friend and a great listener.

Fathers' Day Stall
Thank you to Paula D for sourcing the amazing selection of gifts for this year's Fathers' Day Stall. Many thanks to amazing team of mums who gave their time to staff the stall and assist the students with their purchases. You were such good shopping assistants!
PFA Sausage Sizzle Next Friday
To conclude the term, the PFA will hold a sausage sizzle for the students next Friday. The cost for a sausage in bread is a gold coin donation.
Remember, the students are dismissed at 1.00pm that day.
MACSEYE's Spring Festival School Holiday Program
MACSEYE’s Spring Festival School Holiday Program is running from 21 September to 2 October.
Families from OHR can book the holiday program at St Luke the Evangelist Blackburn South. Details can be found on the MACSEYE page further in today's newsletter.
OHR Spring Carnival - Only 6 Weeks to Go
The fete committee continue to meet on a regular basis to plan for this year's school fete. This is a HUGE event for our school and to ensure that it is a success the fete committee will require everyone's support.

Kew Future Leader's First Speech to Parliament Competition
On Monday, 6th of Septemeber, Arabella B (5/6CM) represented OHR at the Kew Future Leader's First Speech to Parliament Competition at Parliament House in Melbourne. The competition is an initiative run by Jess Wilson MP and approximately 15 primary schools were represented on the day. Arabella was the Runner Up in the Primary Schools section and received a $100 Readings Book Voucher. We are exrtremely proud of Arabella's achievements.
