Transition Graduation

Last Friday was a very special day for our fourteen transition students as they graduated from transition and now are ready to commence Kindergarten in 2024! Congratulations to all of the students on your achievement. Unfortunately due to various other commitments, I have only been able to spend a small amount of time with you all but I have been very impressed with how all of you have improved with your writing, number, and craft skills during this time and I know all of you are ready for Kindergarten. We are looking forward to next year when all of you will be joining us on a full-time basis. Again, thank you to Mrs Hoy, Mrs Rizzi, and Mrs Healey who led the program as well as all of the parents and grandparents who came and took part in the graduation ceremony.

Staffing for 2024

Last week an announcement was made to our transition families that Ms Wilson (4 days) and Mrs Hoy (1 day) will be teaching Kindergarten next year. I have also been recently contacted by several families regarding what will be the classroom arrangements for the next school year. I have nearly finalised everything and I do hope I can officially announce all classroom arrangements in a fortnight. I can announce now that we will be keeping to the same class format with four operating classes (Kindergarten, Years 1-2, Years 3-4 and Years 5-6), and at the moment these classes will be in the same classrooms as this year.

2024 School Fees

Recently the Catholic Schools Office sent out a letter to all schools in the office stating that all schools will need to increase their school fees by at least 4%. I know a lot of members in our local community are struggling financially due to the continued rise of interest rates as well as essentials like electricity, fuel, food, and other necessities. I am still juggling various factors for the school budget for next year, therefore school fees will be increasing by 4% in 2024. This equates to around $1.40 per week.

Formal House Names  Survey Results

Thank you to all of the parents who participated in the survey last term regarding the proposed action of giving our Blue and Red House a formal name. Completed by a number of our families, students, and staff, there was a clear winner with two-thirds of participants preferring the Local Landmark theme and from these, the names: Oxley and Apsley were the most popular. So, from next year our house teams will be Oxley Red and Apsley Blue and they will be making their debut at our 2024 school swimming carnival on the 16th of  February.

End of Year Presentations

It is not long before we will be formally acknowledging the student's achievements for this academic year. Although our End of Year Presentation Night was a great event last year, it simply took too long!

This year is also our allocated year where all classes are involved with a whole school performance. The play has been selected, roles have been allocated and all of our students have begun practising their acting and dancing moves for our performance of 'The Dragon Returns' which will be on Wednesday 29th November, commencing at 6.00 pm at the Walcha Multipurpose Centre.

It has been decided we will not have our Year 6 Graduation Ceremony, classroom and perpetual awards on the same night. So Thursday 7th December, we will be having our annual Schools Presentation Night under the school COLA, followed by a barbecue, where all members of our school community are invited to join us.

2024 School Leadership Speeches and Election Day

Soon a number of our Year 5 students have begun preparing and rehearsing speeches for our upcoming 2024 School Leadership Speeches and Election Day on Wednesday 22nd November.

I would like to thank all of our Year 5 students who have nominated themselves to fill these positions if elected. I know all of you would do a fantastic job!

Year 5 speeches will commence at 9.30am in the library and parents are invited to join us. After the speeches, all students and staff members will then cast their votes. Our 2024 School Leaders will be officially announced at our End of Year Presentation Night.

Year 3-4 Excursion to Thalgarrah Next Week

This time next week, the Year 3-4 students will be preparing for their nighttime activities on their Thalgarrah excursion. It has been some years since I have been to Thalgarrah and like the students I am looking forward to the experience.

Packing list is on the Compass consent form.

We will be departing school at 9.00am next Thursday morning and returning to school on Friday afternoon.

2023 School Advisory Council AGM Meeting

Unfortunately due to various circumstances the School Advisory Council Meeting that was meant to take place on Tuesday 14th November had to be cancelled at the last minute. We are currently in the process of trying to reschedule this meeting before the end of this term.

P & F Meeting

Our next and final P and F Meeting for the year will take place this upcoming Tuesday 21st November at 6.00pm at The Taphouse. All are welcome to attend.
