Reflection

During November we have been remembering those who have died. Every November 11th (last Saturday) we especially remember those who have died in war. It's called Remembrance Day and it marks the end of World War I in 1918. A war hero from World War II is Sir Edward Dunlop. He was a surgeon in the Australian Army during the Second World War. Because he was tireless in his care of wounded soldiers who had been taken prisoner, he was nicknamed 'Weary." He looked after them when they returned from days of hard labour building a railway from West Thailand into Burma. He has been called "The Surgeon of the Railway" or "The Burma Railway." He died in 1993.

Prayer

Let us remember our relatives and friends who have died:

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord,

and let perpetual light shine upon them.

May they rest in peace. Amen.

May their souls

and the souls of the faithful departed,

through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
