Swimming

For the first three weeks of this term, students will be participating in school swimming lessons as part of our Health and Physical Education program. These lessons provide an important opportunity for students to develop confidence and essential water-safety skills under the guidance of a qualified instructor. Swimming is a vital life skill, and the program supports students to improve their technique, fitness and understanding of safe behaviours in and around water. We look forward to seeing students build their confidence and enjoy this valuable learning experience.
Thank you everyone for returning all the swimming permission notes so promptly. We will be slightly changing the program this year to accommodate the different swimming levels by our students and to always ensure safety in the water.
Miss Bailey’s class will be having their lesson first starting at 2.05pm, which will go for 30 minutes then Mrs McDonald’s class will have their lesson at 2.35 to 3.05pm. The bus will take the junior class down first to start their lesson with Glenda. The seniors will arrive in time for their lesson by bus as well. The reason for this change is the senior students need to focus on swimming longer distances in ability groups.
This year we also have Britt Parry helping in the swimming lessons. Glenda is starting to help Britt learn to be a swim teacher and we will be helping Britt gain her qualification as well. We have also purchased an additional swim stand to help in the water.
