Principal News

Easter is upon is. It is a time of renewal and rebirth. This is an important reminder for us as Catholics that we are always invited to new life, a chance to start again and experience the joy of Jesus within our life. For non Catholics, we invite you to consider what new opportunities lie ahead in the coming months. Lent asks us to forego something, (I gave up Social Media) and having experienced the benefits, I will continue with that to try and always be as present as possible with people.
What a term. A term that provided some real highlights. It was great to hear some positive feedback from Parent Teacher Interviews, where hopefully you were provided with more precise data about your child and what the next steps are.
Another highlight was our Preps performing 'I just Cant Wait To Be King' from the Lion King. on Monday at assembly. They were amazing and showed courage and skill to remember all the actions, the words and have confidence to put it all out their on stage. They are already 'Kings' in my book. On Wednesday we saw some amazing dance moves, and clearly Michael Jackson is still popular in our family households, because we had many knowing every dance move!
Next term will see a big focus on intervention. Intervention focuses on those who are needing additional reinforcement of what has been taught, additional exposures. Some students will take a few extra sessions, some will take more. If I am learning something sport related, I tend to pick it up faster as I have a fair bit of prior knowledge and skill development (from years gone past). If I am trying to learn some trade skills to build things, I need serious additional attempts, as it is not something I have been used to. having said that, I can learn, and have been quite chuffed with my plastering skills of late with the additional attempts due to kids playing with all sorts of toys around the house! When we think of intervention like this, we see all students as being able to succeed, which is critical to the student actually being able to. As I heard last week from All Black Mental Skills Coach, Gilbert Enoka, 'You will never rise above the opinion you have of yourself.' He is not calling for arrogance, rather confidence and a belief that we can be successful. Easier said than done, but a game changer!
On the First day we return, we will have Melbourne Storm Players visiting the students at 10am. You are welcome to come along. This again cements our partnership with the Storm this year, and we could not be more grateful!
We will send out an updated newsletter at the end of the holidays with dates for Term Two and beyond. I will be on long service leave for the first week of Term 2. The team will be available to help.
Thanks for being partners with us in supporting your children. They are great kids, I am proud to be their Principal and look forward to what can be achieved together. Thank you!
