From The REC

Dear God,

As we begin this new school year, we turn to You in gratitude and hope. We thank You for the gift of learning, the joy of new beginnings, and the opportunity to grow in wisdom and understanding.

We ask for Your guidance and blessings upon all students, families, teachers, and staff. Grant us patience, perseverance, and a spirit of collaboration. Help us to embrace the challenges ahead with faith and trust in Your plan for us.

Lord, open our hearts to Your love and Your truth. May we seek knowledge not only for ourselves, but to serve others and bring Your light into the world. Let our actions reflect Your kindness, and may we support one another with compassion and respect.

We ask this in the name of Your Son, Jesus Christ.

Amen.

Beginning School Year Mass

Today we held our Beginning School Year Mass and during this Mass our Year 6 Leaders were presented with their leadership badges.  Thank you to all our families and friends who were able to attend our Opening School Mass. What a wonderful and fitting way to begin our school year. A special thanks to Fr Paul for presiding over our Opening School Mass with us and for making this a special occasion for all, especially our leaders.

Fr Paul Visits Yr 2

Last Friday Year 2 students and their teachers went to the church with Father Paul.  Father Paul explained to the students the symbolism of the stained glass windows in the church and many of the important aspects of our church. Father Paul also explained the significance of genuflecting when we enter the church and making the sign of the cross with Holy Water.

Thank you to Fr Paul for spending time with the students.

Ash Wednesday Mass

The whole school will celebrate Ash Wednesday Mass on Wednesday 5th March at 12 noon.

Ash Wednesday is the first day of Lent.

The practice of administering ashes on this day dates back to the Middle Ages. Ashes are intended to remind us of our human condition and that the things of this world are transitory. They are also a sign of repentance. The Ashes are made from burning the dry palm branches from the previous Palm Sunday and are placed on the foreheads in the sign of the cross with the words: “Repent and believe in the Gospel.”

All students will receive the Ashes unless parents otherwise communicate with their child's class teacher prior.

First Reconciliation Parent Meeting

There will be a Parent Information Meeting  for all parents of students who will be making their First Reconciliation on Tuesday 4th March 5.30pm at the school.

Year of Jubilee

The Holy Father, Pope Francis has decided that 2025 will be a year of Jubilee, something which happens every 25 years. The theme is “Pilgrims of Hope”.

Logo for the 2025 Jubilee

The logo shows four figures stylised to indicate humanity coming from the four corners of the earth. They are embracing each other to indicate the solidarity and brotherhood which joins the peoples. The figure at the head is holding onto the cross.
