AUSSIE BACKYARD BIRD COUNT
14TH – 20TH OCTOBER 2024
Join this nationwide event at school or at home. You can count birds that live near you, in your backyard, school grounds, local park, beach or by looking outside your window. Work as a team with your classmates or your family.
Go to this website: https://aussiebirdcount.org.au
Or the Birdlife Australia website: https://birdlife.org.au
Here is what you do:
- Spend 20 minutes in your favourite outdoor space.
- Use the Bird finder information on the website to identify the birds you see.
- Count the birds. Submit your count using the app or web form.
This is a wonderful way to find out about bird species, if their numbers are increasing or decreasing. In 2022 the most popular bird was the rosella.
Naranga School students are incredibly lucky to see a family of sparrows up close. It is lovely to watch them flying about so quickly.
