TheirCare News

Hi parents, guardians, staff, friends, and welcome to Week 10.
What an awesome last week to celebrate the end of Term 3. This week’s theme was Harmony Week, and we had a strong focus on friendships and learning how to play friendly in group games. At the start of the week, we got the children to create friendship bracelets and necklaces for themselves and for their friends. This week we have also given the children chalk in the afternoons to create cool designs on the asphalt - it has been great to see so many cool creations and imagination.
In the mornings we have continued to utilise the gym with most children wanting to play soccer. The children love using the gym and is a highlight of their morning. This week we have had two cheese toastie mornings, which the kids absolutely loved. Some of the children love being the waiters and taking the orders while the children arrive.
In the afternoons we have seen a lot of sports being played outside. Soccer has been popular, with cricket and footy being popular too.
This week we have also slightly changed the menu. We have moved mac n cheese to Wednesdays and have introduced pitta bread pizzas on Monday. The children loved the pizza, and we even had a lot of children opt for the pineapple pizza instead of the plain. Of course, we have had the very serious debate of "pineapple does really belong on a pizza", but that remained undecided. In the first week of school holidays, we are also introducing fried rice Fridays and have already seen a positive reaction from the children.
Not long now till school holidays which is very, very exciting. We have three cool excursions. The dates for the excursions are:
- Tuesday 19th September - we are going to Jumpside in Footscray
- Thursday 21st September - we are going to the movies to see Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken
- Tuesday 26th of September - we are going to an awesome footy carnival in Altona, which has a very special guest from the Western Bulldogs.
We ask that all children be at the service by 8:30-9:00am for excursion days. Please do not hesitate to contact Ashleigh if you have any questions or concerns about the upcoming holidays - our door is always open.
This week’s Pupil of the Week for TheirCare is Tahlia Howlett. For always being a great leader with the other children and being a great helper when cleaning up the room. Well done, Tahlia you should be so proud!! 😊😊
We would like to say a big thank you to all the families, staff, and children at West Footscray Primary for such an amazing Term 3 together and look forward to finishing the year off strong with Term 4. We wish all families a safe and fun two week holiday and look forward to seeing you all in Term 4.
