Principal's Update

Hello everyone,

It has been quite an adventurous couple of weeks for the students (and staff) at Taradale.

Last week, our Year 3/4 students headed off to camp, and this week the whole school has been busy with swimming.

Year 3/4 Camp

Our Year 3/4 students, along with Lea, Chloe, Hannah and Jess and/or Chris, headed to Lady Northcote Discovery Camp for three days and two nights.

The students joined our friends from Chewton, Elphinstone, Langley and Redesdale Primary Schools for a very full few day. Activities included the flying fox, archery, canoeing, orienteering and bush cooking, just to name a few. Any downtime seemed to be quickly filled with plenty of action packed Gaga!

The students did incredibly well. They participated enthusiastically, tried new things, met new friends, enjoyed plenty of food and seemed to have a fantastic time.

They returned home very tired and have jumped straight into swimming this week.

A massive thank you to the staff who attended camp and did a phenomenal job supporting students throughout the three days — particularly overnight, where sleep was in short supply.

Swimming

This year, we have been making the journey to Gurri Wanyarra for our swimming program. It has been a bit of a hike each day, but the feedback about the venue, instructors and facilities has been really positive from both students and staff.

The students have been getting plenty of time in the water, building their confidence, developing their swimming skills and practising important water safety skills.

Lunch Clubs

Lego Club- Mondays

Kristie will be running a Lego club on Mondays. This will be safe and inclusive space for student to come and build some Lego together.

Woodwork Club- Fridays

I will be running a woodwork club on Friday lunch times. This will be a chance for student to join some sessions to make some simple things out of wood, learn new skills and learn to use tools safely.

Tennis and basketball

Tennis has taken on a bit of a world of its own and is now largely self-run by the students. Students across all year levels are still enjoying getting the racquets out and having a hit during break times. You’ll also often see Shane getting involved in a game of tennis, soccer or basketball with students during recess and lunch.

New Staff

This week, Jodie joined the staff at Taradale Primary School as an Education Support staff member. She has certainly been thrown in the deep end, heading straight to the pool and supporting students at swimming all week!

Jodie joins our wonderful Education Support team of Hannah, Chloe and Shane, and we are very lucky to have her as part of the Taradale team.

Experience Taradale Transition Sessions

We also have several transition sessions coming up this term.

These sessions are open to families considering Taradale Primary School for Prep or another year level in 2027, as well as families who may be considering the school in future years.

Please feel free to share this information with anyone who may be interested.

Taradale Beanies

Taradale beanies are back in stock and are available for $22 each.

Breakfast Club Volunteers

We are seeking additional volunteers to help run Breakfast Club each morning from 8:30–9:00am.

Taradale Primary School participates in the Foodbank Victoria Breakfast Club program, which provides food at no cost for students. While all students are welcome, we rely on volunteers to make this possible.

If you are able to assist or would like more information, please contact the office.

OSHC (Out of School Hours Care)

OSHC is available after school each day.
