Secondary 11/12

Term 3
On Friday the 28th of August the Year 11students participated in the Presentation Ball. It was truly a night to remember! Students began the day by getting ready, with hair and makeup done and beautiful dresses and suits to fit the occasion.
Parents and students met at their limo pickup point for photos and a toast, before enjoying a limo ride around the local areas before heading to the Ivanhoe Centre.
The excitement was evident and the group spent a few hours getting professional photos and having one last final run through. Students did a wonderful job being presented and listening to their speeches they co created. Thank you to student representatives Iyad Laz and Chloe Battista for their excellent speeches!
Students showcased the two dances they had been learning for the last 12 weeks to and the many applauses from the crowd brought great smiles to the students faces. A big achievement for all involved.
After the formalities students and families enjoyed dinner followed by a special persons dance with a person of their choice. The night continued into the late evening full of dancing laughter and spending time with their loved ones.
Overall, the Presentation Ball was a wonderful experience for everyone involved, with many students coming to school Monday identifying that was the best night of their lives.
This Term our Year 12 students participated in ‘Story of My Life’ ran by the Banyule Nillumbik Local Learning and Employment Network, they had the unique opportunity to interview 15 volunteers from our local community about their life journeys.
Over 8 weeks, students engaged in one-on-one interviews, listening to stories that spanned decades, cultures, and experiences. From stories of migration, career challenges, and personal achievements, each conversation offered a window into the lives of another generation.
The aim of the program was to help students develop empathy, active listening skills, and a deeper understanding of history and society from a personal perspective not just from textbooks. It also encouraged them to reflect on their own lives and futures.
The volunteers, many of whom were grandparents or long-time residents, were generous with their time and stories, some even sharing photos of their experiences. Students carefully recorded their conversations and created presentations to share with the cohort and volunteers.
We thank all 15 volunteers for their invaluable contributions and the warmth with which they welcomed our students into their lives. Programs like Story of My Life remind us all that every person has a story worth telling and hearing.
