Principal's Report

Friday 5th September 2025

Dear Parents and Carers

We had a beautiful start to our day today with our Father’s Day Breakfast. It was so wonderful to have so many dads, grandads and men who are special to our students come along and celebrate with us.

We are so very grateful for all that you do for our St Joseph's School Community. A very special thank you to Lowana Sweeney and our Year 5 & 6 families who organised and contributed to the Breakfast.

We would also like to thank Storehouse Botanica, Junee Capital Chemist and Junee Licorice and Chocolate Factory for their very kind donation of goodies for the Lucky Door Prizes this morning.

Their generosity and community spirit is greatly appreciated. We hope that you all have a very special Father’s Day this Sunday and we remember those Father’s who are no longer with us but remain in our memories.

Day in the Diocese Jubilee Pilgrimage

The Catholic Church is celebrating a special Jubilee Year with the theme 'Pilgrims of Hope'. A Jubilee is a sacred time of renewal, reflection, and spiritual growth, traditionally held every 25 years. It is a time to strengthen our faith, embrace God's mercy, and walk together as a community of believers.

Today, Bishop Mark and the Diocese of Wagga Wagga are hosting 'Day in the Diocese' for our students in schools across the 29 schools. Ten students from Year 5 and 6 are attending the day with Mrs Salmon and I will join them for Mass in the Cathedral this afternoon. We hope they have enjoyed their opportunity to be with the bishop, clergy and other students today engaging in different activities to empower them to be hope filled disciples in the world today.

SJJU Social and Fundraising Committee

We didn’t end up having our meeting last Friday but we will meet on Friday 24th October at 3.30pm after our whole school assembly in the hall. Children are welcome. We are so very grateful for all the amazing support, volunteering and commitment from parents for our fundraising events. Joey’s Cup is the next Fundraiser in Term 4 and I know organisation for this is well underway. The money raised from this event will go towards a shade sail and cover for our new sandpit. The value of this is $6,100.00.

You will have noticed that in our calendar we had a Helicopter Ball Drop as a fundraiser this term. There has been an exciting change to this and we are hoping to still have a ball drop fundraiser but from ‘something else’. We are exploring the options for this fundraiser in 2026 and making sure it can happen before we announce it. Stay tuned.…

Bush Kindy Visitors

On Wednesday 17th September we welcome the preschoolers to our Kinder Bush program. They will visit the school and join in with our Kindy students. Our Kindy students are so experienced now in the bush and will be exploring with the preschoolers for the afternoon. Thank you Mrs Brady and Mrs Vergano  for all the amazing work you are doing with our Bush Kindy.

Enjoy the weekend everyone and thank you for all your support of our amazing school.

Happy Father’s Day!

God Bless

Angela Scott
