Principal's Address

Hello to all Moonie Families and Community,
Term 4 – Week 2
Welcome back everyone to the final school term for 2025. It is shaping up to be a busy and exciting term with camps and excursion, swimming lessons and preparation for our end of year concert.
Next week our Year 3 and 4 students are heading off to Stradbroke Island for their camp while Caleb joins other Year 6 students from around the cluster at Tallebudgera for their leadership camp. Our P-2 class will continue their learning journey here at Moonie with Miss Kylie and our amazing Teacher Aides.
This Friday and next Monday marks our first Kindy and Prep transition sessions. We are looking forward to welcoming and meeting everyone during these open mornings. Please continue to share information about these transition days. There are 4 transition days for both Kindy and Prep throughout Term 4.
Every Day Counts
Our students have started the term with a fantastic attendance rate — well done, everyone! Coming to school every day helps students build confidence, keep up with their learning, and enjoy time with their friends. Even one or two missed days can make a difference, so thank you to our families for making school a priority. Let’s keep up the great effort and finish the term strong!
REMINDER:
There are extremely important Blue Card changes in place from 20 September.
These changes include:
- parent volunteers will require blue cards if:
- services or activities do not include their own child (eg. Tuckshop, Reading etc)
- they attend overnight excursions or camps
- close personal contact may occur with another child (such as assisting with toileting, bathing or dressing).
- external businesses providing services in schools or to children will need a blue card.
For more information about the upcoming changes, visit the Queensland Government website: https://www.qld.gov.au/law/laws-regulated-industries-and-accountability/queensland-laws-and-regulations/regulated-industries-and-licensing/blue-card-system-changes
These changes are going to affect the majority of our school parents so if you can please arrange a volunteer Blue Card (there is no cost for a volunteer card) as soon as possible to eliminate any issues within our school. Once you receive your card can you please bring it to the school so that we can add you to our register.
Warm regards,
Anna Jones
