What is happening this fortnight in the Library!

We hope your child/ren are enjoying their weekly visits to the library and bringing home some wonderful books to share.
Last week we sent home overdue book notices for students who still had books outstanding from last year. Thank you to the families who have already located and returned the books or signed and returned the notice to let us know the book/s cannot be found at home.
As part of our library policy, books cannot be removed from a student’s borrowing record without written acknowledgement. Once we receive a response, we can update our records so students can borrow freely again without being reminded about overdue books each week.
To borrow books and take them home, students must bring a library bag. Please help your child remember to bring their bag on their allocated library day. If your child does not have a designated library bag, any protective bag with their name clearly labelled will be suitable.
We do have a small supply of spare bags available if needed, so please contact the school if your child requires one.

Our Library Awards program is well and truly up and running again!
Students earn an entry into the Library Awards draw by bringing their library bag and borrowing or renewing books for three consecutive weeks.
Once students have reached the three-week milestone, they place their name into the Library Awards entry box. Entries remain in the box for the entire year, so students who enter earlier in the year have the same chance of being selected as those who enter later.
Each week our Year 5 and 6 students draw names from the box and announce the winners during Wednesday lunchtime announcements.
Students whose names are drawn receive:
We look forward to seeing lots of library bags each week and plenty of borrowing from our fantastic library collection!
Would you like to help in our school library?

We welcome parents, grandparents and friends who are able to assist with tasks such as:
When: Tuesday's Time: 2:30pm – 3:30pm
If you are interested, please contact the school office for more information.
Please remember to sign in at the office when you arrive and ensure your Working With Children Check (WWCC) is registered with the school.
We look forward to welcoming some new volunteers, as well as seeing familiar faces who have generously supported our library in the past.
Our school is once again participating in the Scholastic Book Club.

There are eight catalogues issued throughout the year (approximately two each term). Students will bring home the catalogue, which includes award-winning books, bestsellers and many old and new favourites.
The books cover a wide range of reading levels and interests and are very affordable, with some titles starting from as little as $3.
How to Order
Orders can be placed:

Books usually arrive about two weeks after the order closing date and are distributed directly to students at school (unless another delivery option has been selected, such as for gifts).
Our school receives commission from all purchases, which helps us add more books to our library collection.
Issue 1 catalogue was sent home earlier this term and orders were distributed last week. Issue 2 catalogue has been sent home this week.
📅 Online order cut-off date: Tuesday 18 March
More information about placing an online order can be found at: www.scholastic.com.au/LOOP
As always, we’re looking forward to a wonderful year in the library.
This year’s Book Week theme is “Symphony of Stories.” While we celebrate Book Week in Term 3, throughout the year we will also be exploring lots of books that bring harmonious elements to our minds and hearts.

Till next time, happy reading everyone!
