ECU School of Engineering Invite

IGNIS Mission Student Interns Program 2026

Explore real-world engineering through ECU’s award-nominated integrated STEM outreach program, IGNIS Mission, tailored for Western Australian schools.

IGNIS research

ECU School of Engineering is part of a major NASA‑affiliated mission investigating how lightning events contribute to bushfire ignition, using space‑based environmental monitoring. As the only WA university involved, ECU’s engineers are working on contemporary challenges that directly impact Western Australia, from extreme weather to environmental resilience.

IGNIS school outreach program

To complement the research, ECU Engineering offers an integrated and collaborative STEM outreach program tailored for secondary school students in Years 8 -11, providing an opportunity to engage with STEM in a local context. The program facilitates structured exposure to real-world STEM practice, helping students understand how professionals investigate and solve complex problems.
