Principal Report

Dear Families,

What a fabulous first week of swimming! All of the students who attended had a fantastic time, and they embraced the program with gusto. Next week is the second half of the school, and we look forward to a fantastic time. 

Japan Trip

Bright and early Monday morning, seven Year 6 students are heading off on the joint Japan trip with Newington Primary School students. Miss Kylie and Mr Oliver are accompanying Sophia, Kenna, Annie, Greta, Angus, Paddy, and Finn on the trip. We wish the group the very best time, and we look forward to hearing about their adventures on their return. 

Young Authors Program

Last week, our Young Authors attended the final celebration session of the program. The students spent time talking and listening to some Australian screenwriters. They then got to do a tour underneath Sturt Street. The session ended with a shopping trip to Collins Bookshop on Lydiard Street. Congratulations to Ava, Olivia, Billie, Rory, Savannah, Alfie, Milli, Delilah, Molly and Sophie for their efforts in the Young Authors program this year. 

Victorian High Abilities Program (VHAP)

Last Friday, Miss Kylie took our VHAP students to a special day where they got to collaborate with other VHAP students in our region. The VHAP program is run throughout the year online for high-ability students in all Victorian State Schools. This was the first time students were able to be face-to-face with other VHAP students, and they participated in extended writing activities; they also created games based on their writing. Congratulations to Scarlet, Henry, Delilah and Hugo who participated in this program. 

Fun Run Reminder

The Fun Run is fast approaching, and I can’t wait to see all of the Dana Street community out running around our block. We're collecting sponsorships and donations, and we hope families have taken advantage of The Athlete’s Foot sponsorship offering 10% off kids' shoes in October. If you haven’t as yet, and you have spare time on the day, we are looking for some more volunteers. Please reach out to your child's classroom teacher if you can help. On our Give Now Donation page, we have already raised $994. Thank you, Dana Street Community!
