Basketball Tournament

St Monica's Grade Six students participated in a basketball tournament at Red Energy Arena on Wednesday. The Grade 6 boys, coached by Ms Mangan, played well and won a close fought game against Big Hill Primary.  All of their other games were very close and went down to the wire, but unfortunately the boys' team couldn't secure any further wins.

The Grade 6 girls, with coach Chris Novak, won most of their round robin games, and even ended up with a draw against Girton Grammar (8-8).  Needing to score 35 points in their last round game, the Grade 6 girls thought their day may be done. Incredibly, St Monica's won their last game 35-0 to move into the finals!   St Monica's Girls' team ended up losing by 5 points to St Therese's Primary in the Semi Final. 

Both the boys and girls' teams played well throughout the day, demonstrating great teamwork and sportsmanship.  Thanks to all involved - It was a fun, successful day for our basketballers!
