Book Swap Library
Our amazing Library Captains, Lilly T and Lucy W, along with Ella M, proudly held their very first Book Swap on Wednesday before and after school!
The Book Swap has been a special passion project for the girls, and they are so excited to offer students the chance to share, swap, and discover wonderful new books to enjoy. There was fantastic interest from both students and parents, with many families stopping by to join in the fun and excitement of finding a new story to read.
The girls are thrilled with the positive response and are excited to announce that the Book Swap will now be held every Wednesday outside the library.
Come along, bring a book to swap, and discover your next great adventure — you never know what amazing story you might find!
PRC (Premier Reading Challenge)
Have you heard about the Victorian Premier's Reading Challenge? It’s a fun reading adventure for primary school students across Victoria!
The challenge encourages children to discover new books, explore exciting stories, and build a love of reading. Students from Foundation to Year 6 work towards a reading goal during the
school year. Younger students usually read around 30 books with help from parents or teachers, while older students aim to read 15 books independently.
Children can choose books from the official reading lists as well as some of their own favourite stories. Every book they read is recorded online, allowing students to track their progress and celebrate their achievements along the way.
The best part? Students who complete the challenge receive a special certificate signed
by the Victorian Premier — a wonderful reward for all their hard work and reading!
Reading every day helps children grow their vocabulary, improve their confidence, and spark their imagination. Most importantly, it shows children that reading can be fun, relaxing, and full of adventure.
So, grab a book, get comfy, and enjoy the journey — every page is a new adventure waiting to happen!
Don't forget to check the library window to see how your child's class is going with the challenge.
NSS (National Simultaneous Storytime)
On Wednesday 27 May 2026 at 12.00pm AEST, millions of children, parents, teachers, and library lovers across Australia and beyond will come together to read Luna Roo at the same time — celebrating the joy of reading, storytelling and connection. Published by Little Book Press the story follows the spirited kangaroo Luna and her friends as they chase their football dreams across the outback, blending action, teamwork and fun to inspire young readers.
“We chose Luna Roo for NSS because it captures the spirit of rising to a challenge with heart and grit” said Kellie John, a member of the selection panel and ALIA’s Children and Youth Services Special Interest Group. “Navigating nerves, tricky opponents, and
unexpected hurdles reflect the kind of determination kids face every day. It is a powerful celebration of courage, self-belief, and pushing through when things get tough.”
First-time authors Adam Jackson and Adrian Lloyd wanted to share their love of football and storytelling with young readers.
“We wrote these books to share our love of sport with our children, and we’re thrilled that NSS will enable us to connect with millions of young readers across the country,” said Adam Jackson. “Plus, with the Matildas competing in the Women’s Asian Cup here in Australia in March and the Socceroos heading to the FIFA World Cup in June, football will be front of mind for families across the globe!”
