9 OES CAMP

The year 9 Outdoor Education classes recently embarked on a journey to Wilson’s Prom. During this excursion, students aimed to deepen their practical understanding of outdoor environments, complementing their theoretical knowledge.

Prior to the camp, students dedicated months to honing essential skills such as cooking on a Trangia stove, tent setup, first aid, and adapting behavior to diverse surroundings. Throughout the three-day camp, students engaged in activities including hiking, stand-up paddleboarding, and surfing.

7 PHYSICAL EDUCATION

Year 7, students kick offed the end of term 1 by delving into the basics of throwing and catching, alongside a dedicated focus on athletics. Simultaneously, the Health program is tailored to bolster self-awareness, with an emphasis on character development. This approach enables students to delve into key capabilities outlined in the Victorian Curriculum while engaging in introspection and self-reflection.

9 PHYSICAL EDUCATION

Year 9 students have been focusing their theory classes on sexual education and consent. They've been diligently analyzing the contextual factors that mould their identities, relationships, decisions, and actions. Moreover, they're assessing the impact of attitudes and beliefs about diversity on community unity and general welfare.

VCE HEALTH & HUMAN DEVELOPMENT

In VCE Health and Human Development, our focus has revolved around understanding health and wellbeing, with a particular emphasis on examining the health status of Australia's population.

Year 11 students will be undertaking a unique challenge: caring for simulated babies. This experience immerses students in many of the responsibilities associated with caring for a newborn infant. Each student will be tasked with caring for a Real Care Baby, a computerized infant simulator that requires constant supervision.

These simulated babies exhibit realistic behaviors, including crying and the need for feeding, burping, rocking, and diaper changes. It is the students' responsibility to attend to the baby's needs diligently.

Equipped with a small computer programmed to follow the schedules of 15 different newborns, each day presents a new caregiving scenario for the students. They must be prepared to care for the baby at various times, even during moments when they would typically be sleeping.

VCE PHYSICAL EDUCATION

In VCE Physical Education, our primary focus has centred around the human body's movement and energy expenditure for physical activity.

In a recent session of the year 12 class, student Archie underwent the VO2 max test to gather data for our upcoming Student Assessment Component (SAC). The presentation was conducted by Luke from Mets Performance.

During the session, students gained insights into the interplay and immediate responses within the body, as well as the effects of lactate and fatigue-inducing by-products.

Congratulations to Archie for achieving an impressive VO2 max score of 71.7. Well done!
