Upcoming Year 8 Retreats

Permission notes for the Year 8 Retreats have been sent home to parents via the Parent Lounge. Please note the following details;

 

  • Monday 25th August (Week 6) – 8.1 and 8.3
  • Monday 8th Sept (Week 8) – 8.2, 8.4 and 8.6
  • Monday 15th Sept (Week 9) – 8.5 and 8.7

 

Where to Meet: Students are to meet in front of the Centenary Chapel on their allocated day.

Dress: Neat casuals with comfortable shoes for walking

What to bring: Hat, sunscreen, water bottle

 

Morning tea (muffin and fruit) and lunch (sandwich) will be provided. Students may wish to bring additional food.

Year 8-11 Parent Teacher Interviews - Rescheduled

We apologise for the recent issue with Parent Teacher Interviews for Years 8-11.  We are happy to advise that we have worked through the technical issues and interviews will be held via Teams on Monday 8 September.

 

Bookings will open on 29 August, and unfortunately you will need to rebook.  The booking link will be sent closer to this date.

School leavers 

Nova Employment is a registered NDIS provider in Bowral. They are holding their next 'Pathways to Employment' session on Friday 29 August from 10.00am - 2.00pm.

 

This is a great opportunity for students with diverse needs who are leaving school or planning future employment opportunities to meet with their local NOVA team and discuss options.

Positive Partnerships Autism Workshop: 23 September in Goulburn

Positive Partnerships is a government-funded program that offers free neuro-affirming workshops to parents/carers of autistic young people, including those on the pathway to identification.

Eager to Help? Be a Reader/Writer Volunteer for HSC exams!

 The College would be most grateful for adult volunteers to perform Reader/Writer duties during the upcoming examinations. If you cannot commit but wish to help, please pass on our request to suitable adults.

 

Who? 

Adults who act as readers and writers must:

  • do so on a voluntary basis
  • have a volunteer Working with Children Check (free for volunteers, online application)
  • not be a relative or friend of the student or have a close relative sitting the same examination.

 

Readers may be approved for students whose diagnosed disability prevents them from independently reading and/or comprehending written questions. Writers may be approved for students with a diagnosed disability preventing them from independently communicating their responses in a handwritten format.

 

When? 

The examination periods are listed below. Specific dates and times will be advised closer to the time.

  • Year 11 Preliminary examinations – 15 to 24 September
  • Year 12 HSC examinations – 16 October to 7 November 

 

How?

Year 11 Student Leadership

The Student leadership process continued this week with a focus on formation.

 

Monday was a significant day where students experienced:

*Initiative and Challenge Activities,

*A telling of the MSC Story and where they have seen the MSC values in action, and what they look like,

*An exploration of Servant leadership and leadership inspirations and

*Presenting possible Leaders’ themes.

 

On Friday, the students worked in their House groups with their Leader of House, looking at House Initiatives they wish to explore, along with ideas to continue to build House Spirit.

Year 11 Visit from BATYR

We’re excited to share that next Wednesday 20 August, during the students' Personalised Learning/ Wellbeing period, Batyr will be presenting to our Year 11s.

 

Batyr’s mission outlines:

We are leaders in PREVENTION and STIGMA REDUCTION. We exist to empower young people to talk openly about mental health and take charge of their wellbeing.

ISA Semi Finals - Saturday 16 August

ISA Semi Finals is tomorrow, Saturday 16 August. Team fixtures and bus information can be found in the Parent Lounge and Orbit app under School Links / Extra Curricular.

IMPORTANT:  We aim to have fixtures and bus times uploaded to School Links by Wednesday each week.  Please check the fixtures every Friday afternoon/evening for any last minute changes to bus times and/or game cancellations. 

Summer Sport - Registrations are now open

Students are now invited to register for Summer Sports via the Student Café. Registrations will close Wednesday 20 August.

 

In registering to trial for a Summer Sport, students acknowledge:

  • Attendance at all training sessions is compulsory (Typically Tuesday and Thursday)
  • Attendance at all Saturday games is compulsory
  • Students must attend scheduled trials

Accessing Summer Sport registrations:

  1. Log into Student Café
  2. Click My Activities
  3. Click Extra Curricular
  4. Click Sign-up available (top right-hand corner)
  5. Select the sport and the complete form

Alternatively, students may access the registration form via the QR codes located at Student Services or outside C1.

 

Athletics Carnival 

Reminder, Athletics Carnival is on Friday 22 August, attendance for all students is mandatory.

Chevalier College Careers Expo – Monday 25 August 2025 

We’re pleased to invite students in years 10-12 to the Chevalier College Careers Expo, a valuable opportunity for students to explore future careers and study pathways in a supportive and engaging environment. 

 

At the Expo students will have the chance to listen to presentations, move between presenter tables, speak directly with industry professionals, and gain insights into a wide range of careers, training options, and tertiary education opportunities.

We encourage parents and carers to support their children to attend the Careers Expo to help them feel confident and informed about their future. Parents and carers are also welcome to attend.

Father’s Day Breakfast – Thursday 4 September  

Our Father’s Day Breakfast will be held on Thursday 4 September. All fathers, grandfathers and father figures are invited to join us for a morning of reflection and gratitude whilst sharing a hearty BBQ breakfast with a café quality tea or coffee. 

 

Students of attendees are also invited to join us for the celebration. 

 

Tickets for the BBQ breakfast are available for $10 per person + BF (adults and students). RSVP 29/8/25.
