TheirCare News

Hi parents, guardians, staff, and friends! Welcome to Week 8 of Term 2.

We would like to begin by acknowledging the Traditional Owners of the land, the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung and Bunurong peoples of the Kulin Nation, and pay our respect to their Elders, past, present, and emerging.

The children have been gently settling back in after the long weekend. With the weather not on our side, we've been making the most of our indoor space. Activities have included classic board games like Scrabble, exciting rounds of air hockey and fishing games, a fun-filled Lego building competition, and lots of creativity using wooden blocks. It's been a great way to stay engaged, work together, and let imaginations shine despite the rainy days. The children loved working on colouring sheets, which gave them a chance to relax, express themselves, and focus quietly. We also had lots of fun making loom bands - these colourful rubber band bracelets are a great way for children to develop fine motor skills, patience, and creativity.

This week's theme at TheirCare is all about “Community and support.” We’re excited to share that we’ve partnered with a support worker leader who will be helping us connect with others in a kind and thoughtful way. They’ll be giving us first names of clients we can create special surprises for - this will be a great way for the children to feel involved and learn about caring for others.

During the week, the children will be creating:

  • Positivity packs – small gift packs filled with kind messages and little treats to make someone smile.
  • Kindness rocks – decorated rocks with positive words or pictures that can brighten someone's day.
  • Wellbeing banner – a big, colourful banner filled with encouraging messages and drawings to remind everyone to take care of their wellbeing.

This Friday, we’re celebrating with a small party called Glotopia! Glotopia is all about bright colours a celebration of happiness and togetherness. It’s a fun and exciting way for the children to enjoy the end of the week in a vibrant, glowing environment! We’ll be decorating the indoor space on Thursday afternoon and Friday morning, turning it into a magical, glowing wonderland ready for the celebration.

We can’t wait to see the children light up with joy!

It’s been a meaningful and enjoyable week 8, and we’re looking forward to the weeks ahead!
