Principal's Report

Welcome back to the start of an exciting and promising year at Carlton Gardens Primary!

I hope you all had a wonderful break and enjoyed some valuable time with family and friends. This year, like so many others, we welcome a large number of new members to our special learning community. With over 100 new families joining us this year, we are also welcoming over 10 new staff members to our beautiful school. We look forward to getting to know you and cannot wait for you to experience, first hand, and contribute to the unique culture we have here at CGPS.

Meet and Greet

Our official Meet and Greet sessions are scheduled at the start for the term. Parents/carers will have an opportunity to sit down with their child's teacher and share some valuable information that will go to supporting the successful year ahead. We will have some more information coming out, in preparation for these sessions, over the first week or so. However, our amazing team will be out and about before and after school for introductions and very quick chats. Although we ask parents/carers to ensure that teachers are still able to stick to schedule and coordinate supervision of their class.

Our first Assembly

To kick our year off well, our first major assembly will include a Welcome to Country and smoking ceremony - conducted by a Wurundjeri elder - and also some amazing Lion Dancing to welcoming in the Year of the Snake for Lunar New Year. Our Commitment

Through 2025, our team is dedicated to leading a year full of engaging, enriching, and high-quality learning experiences where your child is at the centre. We will all be working to design learning that is adjusted to meet the broad range of needs, interests and aspirations of every student. Alongside our essential learning in Literacy and Numeracy, programs such as Intervention, as well as our specialist subjects like STEM, Art, Music, Physical Education, and Chinese will undergo some evidence informed enhancements through 2025. More details and updates will be shared through this Newsletter, SeeSaw, Compass and open sessions.

Your Contributions

Very soon, families will receive a Compass Newsfeed with information relating to the Parent Contributions. The success of our programs—and our ability to continue offering them in 2025 and beyond—depends on the financial support we receive from families like yours. Every contribution, no matter the size, plays a meaningful role in sustaining and growing these initiatives. By working together, we can provide an even richer and more tailored educational experience for all students in our community. We aim to be keeping you all in the loop, through our communication channels, of the some of the special resources we are able to acquire thanks to the financial contributions of our families.

We are looking forward to a year of growth, learning, and achievement, and we are so grateful for the partnership we share with you.
