Message from Bev

Welcome back to Semester Two. Special welcome to our new families and returning families who have come in from overseas.

Parents are often surprised how quickly their children settle, worrying for them and being anxious on their behalf.  

Children are far more resilient than we give them credit for. In puting an adult lens over their world we can often over complicate something that for them has occured in a moment. Children have two time zones: 'now' and 'not now'. 

 As a staff we had a session this week with Elias from The Resilience Project, about 'belonging' and 'mattering'. In belonging it is not about changing ourselves to fit in, its about being accepted for who we are. And in 'mattering' it is about being valued for what we contribute.

For us at BBPS it is all about that sense of belonging and then celebrating the endeavour and the achievements, no matter how big or small. The kids have a good understanding of what matters...

Nikita: I really like being back at school and hanging out with all my friends.

Dan: I feel like I belong at BBPS because it is a really good school and people care about me.              We talk about things so we can make good choices next time. 

Tc: The teachers know you can always do your best if you try.

One Hundred Days

Check out Tenny and Bella who along with their classmates celebrated '100 Days' of being at school.  It is a delight to see the connectedness of our prep students and their confidence as learners to explain what they are doing and why.

We also celebrated with our former students at Brighton Secondary College who invite us each year to celebrate and acknowledge the first 100 days of Year 7.

Even our former students love to come up and catch up with us, sharing the where to for them as they navigate future next steps. They also enjoy returning and joining in when they can. Bailey, Milla and Chloe our former class of 2024 joining in the dance practice for our much anticipated production - NEXT THURSDAY! 

Friends go above and beyond for one another. Will, Mason and Raffy are making sure Josh has a speedy recovery from his recent surgery - speedy in more ways than one!

Over the break, some very enterprising Year 2's continued the school commitment to supporting children, young people and families in our community after our PJ Day for OzChild's 175 Hours of Giving. We could not be more proud of their efforts.

Well done to Raffy and Taj our year 6 SRC Captains who led and ran the event.

The Magical Library - written and performed by BBPS Students!

Looking forward to next Thursday Night - dancing and singing and following the story of The Magical Library. if the dress rehearsal is anything to go by - we are all in for a treat!
