Principal's Message

CELEBRATING 150 YEARS OF WARRNAMBOOL PRIMARY SCHOOL

What a wonderful celebration of 150 years of Warrnambool Primary School! I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who supported our anniversary celebrations and helped make Saturday such a memorable occasion.

A great deal of time, effort and enthusiasm went into preparing for the event. Thank you to everyone who contributed to our displays, shared photographs and memorabilia, organised amusements and food stalls, and volunteered their time on Saturday. Whether you helped behind the scenes, welcomed visitors, assisted with activities or simply came along to celebrate, your contribution was greatly appreciated. A big thank you to Coles Northpoint, Woolworths Dennington and Baker's Delight Norfolk Plaza for your various donations.

It was fantastic to see so many people taking the time to explore our beautiful school, visit the classrooms, look through the historical displays and reflect on the school's rich history. There was a real sense of pride in what Warrnambool Primary School has achieved over the past 150 years and the important place it continues to hold in our community.

Our special guest speakers, Howard Looney, Rhonda Steele, Alex Dyson and Tom Ballard, added a very special dimension to the celebrations. Their stories and reflections were incredibly interesting, humorous and, at times, deeply emotional. They reminded us of the lasting impact a school can have on the lives of its students and staff, and how the memories and friendships formed here can stay with us for a lifetime. It was also wonderful to see former colleagues and students reconnecting, sharing stories and reminiscing about their time at Jamo.

YEAR 4 CAMP – ROSES GAP

Our Year 4 students had a fantastic time at Roses Gap, enjoying a wonderful range of outdoor activities and challenges. From exploring the natural environment and developing their teamwork skills to challenging themselves with new experiences, the camp provided plenty of opportunities for learning, adventure and fun. Activities included bushwalking, orienteering, team-building challenges, archery, climbing activities and other outdoor adventure experiences.

Camp is always a valuable opportunity for students to build independence, develop resilience, strengthen friendships and create lasting memories outside the classroom.

A big thank you to our parents and carers for their continued support of our school camps program. These experiences are an important part of our students' learning and development, and we appreciate your support in making them possible.

I would also like to sincerely thank Pat Kluver, Ella Haugh, Steph Hann, Zade Matheson, Dave Cashin, Beau Kirkwood, Ryan Bigg, Shannon Hoare and Sharon Reeve for their organisation, supervision and support.

Taking students away on camp requires considerable preparation, teamwork and commitment, and we are very grateful for the time and effort everyone contributed to ensuring the experience was both enjoyable and successful.

Well done to our Year 4 students for their enthusiasm, positive attitudes and willingness to give things a go. It sounds like Roses Gap was an experience to remember.

COTTAGE BY THE SEA CAMP

Our students had a wonderful time at Cottage by the Sea in Queenscliff, enjoying a range of fun activities and new experiences. From beach games, surfing, sandcastle building and coastal exploration to team challenges, outdoor games, arts and crafts, and group activities, there were plenty of opportunities to develop friendships, work together and make lasting memories.

A big thank you to our parents and carers for their continued support of our school camps program. These experiences provide valuable opportunities for students to build confidence, independence and social skills in a different setting.

I would also like to sincerely thank Danielle Toone, Jasmine Cunningham, Julie Versteegh and James Coghlan-West for their organisation, supervision and support. Their time and commitment helped ensure the camp was an enjoyable and rewarding experience for everyone involved.

Well done to all the students for their enthusiasm and participation throughout the camp.
