TheirCare News

Hi parents, guardians, staff, and friends! Welcome to our very first week of Term 1!!

Can you believe it's already Term 1, where has the time gone? Although it is the first week back at school, TheirCare had our first week back on the 8th of January. We were lucky enough to have three amazing weeks of Holiday Program fun and to meet so many new students, including our new 2024 preps.

During our first week of the holiday program, our program started slowly with families still enjoying their time together. Nevertheless, our first week was non-stop with a trip to the movies and an excursion to AiroWorld in Altona, where we had 2 hours of trampoline jumping and jumping castle fun. We also had some fun in-house activities, from Bubble Fun Day to even attempting to create Egyptian Pyramids.

The excitement continued into our second week of holidays with numbers skyrocketing, especially on excursion days. We had two more excursions, one in which we took 99 children to a ninja warrior course, how cool! The second excursion was rock-climbing in Coburg which had our kids leaving super early in the morning. On top of our excursions that week we were also excited to receive Matilda Fun Bags that we could all colour in and take home which were super cool.

The third week of the Holiday Program continued the fun with an awesome incursion that saw us meet a real-life firefighter and even participate in some drills and with the highlight of dressing up like a firefighter.

To finish off our excursions for the Holiday Program we were fortunate to take 80 children to the Werribee Zoo. TheirCare kids always love the Werribee Zoo, especially the safari bus that takes us around the zoo for a whole 50 minutes. There is no doubt we had a lot of fun and can't wait to see what this 9-week term brings.

We would like to give a big warm welcome to all our new 2024 Preps and their families. During this holiday program, we were fortunate enough to meet so many of our new preps and get to know them and introduce them to TheirCare and the school. The preps were beyond amazing and did so well making new friends and mixing with older kids. During the first two terms we would like to reassure parents and explain our process of supporting our new preps with the transition from TheirCare to school and vice versa. If your prep child attends before school care, one or more educators will walk over with your child to their class and wait until the bell goes or see that the child is comfortable and confident to wait for their teacher. In the afternoons, one educator or more will walk over to the prep classrooms, pick up your child from their classroom, and safely bring them to the gym for after school care. To also help with a smooth transition, we also send out a prep list to all the teachers so that they are also aware which preps are attending TheirCare which also helps with a smooth transition.

As we start this new year, we would like to remind parents of keeping up to date with their child’s medical details, to ensure we have up to date plans and medications each time their child attends. Thank you to all the families who have already dropped off new medication and up to date plans, which is a massive help, and we appreciate your support.

For all families – if you have any questions about TheirCare and would like to come and have a chat please visit us in Emu Corner in the morning and afternoon, alternatively, you can contact us on the details provided and we will help you as best we can. 😊

In sad news we have just learned today that our dear colleague Connie will be finishing up at FWPS on Friday, starting at a program closer to her home next week. We have been very lucky to experience her warmth and generosity over the last 2 years. We all join in wishing Connie all the very best.
