Principal Message

Dear Families,
ANZAC DAY - Thank you for the overwhelming community support for our ANZAC commemorations. Scott and I were incredibly proud of our students and the way they represented Ocean Grove Primary School.
SWIMMING - The Year Three and Four swimming program was a big success. Feedback has been extremely positive. No doubt there were quite a few tired children at the end of the week, last week. Well done everyone.
PARENTS AND FRIENDS - A big thank you to Gillian and the P&F for providing our students with the opportunity to purchase something special for Mother’s Day / Significant Person’ s Day, this coming Friday. We appreciate the time and effort that goes into coordinating these opportunities.
SCHOOL COUNCIL - School Council members gathered at school last night from 6:15pm – 8:30pm to participate in the School Council Governance training. The training involved effective governance, roles and responsibilities and school council operations, providing the foundation for an effective and cohesive School Council. I thank all councillors for dedicating their time to this important work.
PROFESSIONAL LEARNING - Staff participated in two hours of professional learning with Frank Handy on Tuesday after school. Frank highlighted effective decision making, emotional response, listening skills and positive working relationships. It was a valuable session with lots of rigorous discussion, feedback and positive contributions.
CAMP – Our Year Five cohort depart for Lady Northcote camp next Wednesday. We hope they have a fabulous time, continue to build self confidence and develop new friendships.
SPECIAL VISITORS – We will have some senior members from the Department of Education visit us next week. Chris Thompson (Regional Director of South-Western Victoria) and Cat Salt (Executive Director, Barwon South-Western Victoria) will visit OGPS next Wednesday at 10:45am. We look forward to welcoming them to our magnificent school (and to show it off!)
NOMINATION – Did you see the Instagram post? OGPS has been nominated for the ‘Infrastructure School of the Year’ award. Well done to all involved in this amazing work.
ATHLETICS DAY – Mr Horbury has been very busy, not only competing in the Ballarat Marathon, but also preparing for the Year Three – Six athletics day next Monday. This special event will be held at Goldsworthy Reserve, Corio. Please pop in if you’re able to do so.
CROSS COUNTRY – The District Cross Country competition will be conducted next Tuesday. Selected students will compete at the Geelong Racecourse. Good luck to all competitors.
I hope you are able to enjoy this magnificent weather.
Take care,
Kristy 😊
