TheirCare News

Hi parents, guardians, staff, and friends! Welcome to Week 3 of Term 1.

We would like to begin by acknowledging the Traditional Owners of the land, the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung and Bunurong peoples of the Kulin Nation, and pay our respect to their Elders, past, present, and emerging.

We’re halfway through the term! Time is flying! This week’s theme is “Under the Sea Week”. We spent our mornings designing book covers for the TheirCare Travelling Book competition for our region’s book, which enhanced their imagination and drawing skills. The Travelling Book will travel to each service where everyone helps create a story. We are proud to announce that Footscray West TheirCare won the competition!

We played plenty of card games such Go Fish, UNO and Spoons. We also played a competitive game of down ball on the handball courts, and it was lovely to see the children demonstrating communication skills, sportsmanship and hand-eye co-ordination!

Of course, it is not TheirCare without art and crafts in the afternoons - we made octopuses using colourful paper, glue, sticky tape and coloured markers to create awesome masterpieces to take home and share with our families! We also made paper-plate aquariums and did Rainbow Fish paintings - we used so many colourful paints and the kids loved it! In the construction corner the kids used their creativity and imagination skills using wooden blocks to build spiral staircases, mazes, cityscapes and tunnels. We played lots of group games and sport games on the oval such as Fruit Salad, Night Guard, cricket, soccer and gaga.

Prep numbers this week have been massive with Thursday having over 17 prep students attend. The preps are doing very well in walking over to the Dingo building and knowing the routine.

Pupil of the Week

This week’s Pupil of the Week is Aster Coone for always showing kindness to others and including everyone in group games at TheirCare. Well done Aster! You should be very proud of yourself.

TC Tucker

TC Tucker is back! Next week we will be having pizza bagels on Monday for afternoon tea instead of pizza. We would like to encourage all families to submit us any recipes they would like us to try!

Mad Fun Autumn Holiday Program

As we are halfway through this term we are getting closer to our MAD FUN Autumn Holiday Program. This upcoming holiday program we have two weeks of fun in which we will be going to see the Minecraft movie, going to Kaboom Sports and Werribee Zoo!! We also have two incursions, the laser tag and making bubbles!! Who’s excited?

We would like to let all families know that bookings for the holiday program are open. Please make sure to book as early as possible as our numbers for the holiday program are limited. Flyers will be available at TheirCare next week or alternatively you can access them online. If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact us.

For all families – if you have any questions about TheirCare and would like to come and have a chat, please visit us in the Dingo building (Gallery Space) in the morning or afternoon. Alternatively, you can contact us on the details provided and we will be happy to help you.
