Principal Reflections

Dear Parents and Carers,
Reading Data update
We are proud to celebrate the wonderful growth in student achievement in reading across our school! From approximately 42% of students achieving at or above benchmark in Term 2 to around 61% in Term 3, this is fantastic growth and reflects the hard work of our students, the dedication of our teachers and support staff, and our continued focus on explicit teaching, targeted support and monitoring progress. Congratulations!
Congratulations Baylen!
A huge congratulations to Baylen, who recently had the opportunity to compete in an incredible week-long sporting competition for the National Netball Championships. Over 14 games, Baylen and his teammates showed wonderful determination, teamwork and growth, improving each time they took to the field.
Baylen described the experience as “the best ever” and has returned with new friendships, wonderful memories, and so much more knowledge and confidence in his game.
We are incredibly proud of Baylen and the way he embraced this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Congratulations, Baylen — a fantastic achievement!
Around the World Expo
Today our Year 2 students brought global cultures to life during their exciting Around the World Expo! As part of the expo, students selected and researched a country from Europe, Asia or North and South America. Students have been learning to plan, compose and review a small range of informative texts.
The event was a fantastic display of learning and creativity. Students created informative text posters, presentations, wore colourful traditional outfits or flag colours, created dioramas, greeted visitors in new languages and even shared some delicious food from their chosen country.
A huge thank you to our Year 2 teaching team Indy Hall, Moira Watts and Cecily Hankin for your organisation and preparation. Well done to all of our Year 2 students for their outstanding effort and enthusiasm displayed today! Thank you as well to our amazing families who were able to attend this morning.
End of Term Thanks
What a busy and productive Term 3 we have had! It is hard to believe we are already at the end of another term, and there is certainly plenty to celebrate across our school community.
Throughout the term, our students have enjoyed many wonderful learning experiences and events. From a fantastic Book Week, Gala Days and sporting opportunities, to the Year 6 Asia Expo, Year 2 Around the World Expo, excursions and the many learning experiences happening each day in our classrooms, it has been wonderful to see our students involved, engaged and giving their best.
A huge thank you to our dedicated teachers and staff for the energy, care and commitment they bring to St Edward’s each day. Their work ensures our students are supported to learn, grow and thrive.
Thank you also to our parents and carers for your continued support and partnership throughout the term. Working together makes such a positive difference for our children.
I wish all our students, families and staff a safe, happy and well-deserved holiday break. We look forward to welcoming everyone back refreshed and ready for a wonderful Term 4!
Until next week,
Keep smiling,
Alison Hatton
