Pat’s Talent Show
Our annual St Patrick’s Talent Show is coming up in Week 2 of next term, and we’d love to see students from Prep to Year 6 get involved!
Students can share a performance of any kind - sing, dance, act, tell jokes, play an instrument or show off another cool talent. Performances can be solo, in pairs or groups, and must be school-appropriate and no longer than 2 minutes 30 seconds.
The Talent Show will run during Recess and Lunch play times in Week 2. There are no winners or prizes - it’s simply about having fun, sharing our talents and supporting each other.
Students need to pre-register using this Google Form, which has also been shared on Seesaw. Please note, there will be no sign-ups on the day.
Registrations close Friday 9 October (Week 1 of Term 4).
Once we know how many students are performing, we’ll share a performance schedule. More information will be provided early next term.
School Choirs: Our Junior and Senior Choirs have recommenced, with rehearsals already underway for our Christmas Assembly in Term 4. Senior Choir (Years 3-6) rehearses on Wednesday lunchtimes, and Junior Choir (Years 1-2) rehearses on Friday lunchtimes.
What’s Been Happening in Performing Arts
It’s been a busy time in the Music Room post-production, with students creating, performing and making music in lots of different ways.
- Prep & Year 1: Finding and keeping a steady beat using our voices, bodies and instruments.
- Year 3-4: Creating Book and Poetry Raps throughout the term, with students writing and performing their own raps and composing backing tracks in GarageBand. This work continues the focus on reading and books, tying in beautifully with our Book Celebrations a few weeks ago.
- Year 5-6: Creating mini documentaries from the perspective of an everyday item, including narration, filming, music and sound effects.
Community Visits
Our school visits to Mercy Place Aged Care and Mentone Childcare and Kindergarten have continued this term.
On Monday, 4KL visited Mercy Place, where they enjoyed reading to residents and spending time chatting and connecting with them. 2SM also visited the kinder students across the road, sharing stories, conversations and plenty of smiles with their younger friends.
It was lovely to see the students building connections within our local community. Here are some reflections from Year 2 on their time at Mentone Childcare and Kindergarten from the afternoon:
