Book Recommendations

We love seeing students discover new books and develop a passion for reading! My favourite job on my leadership day, is going around the classes and conversing with the children about their current reads. I am learning a lot from them about up and coming authors and what is in vogue right now. It's also great to learn a little more about these children's likes and interests and to see them light up as they talk about reading. It's also lovely to hear some parents who have used this page to help inspire their recommendations.

Ned recommends 'The Great Gallipoli Escape' by Jackie French. Ned loves this book as it is exciting. He like the main character because he is very brave. In this book, the main character, Kip lies about his age to join the army because he wants adventure and to serve his country. He travels from Australia to Egypt for training, then is sent to Gallipoli. At first, he feels excited, but this quickly changes when he arrives at Gallipoli! This book is a great recommendation for anyone in Year 3 and 4 who is interested in history as well as excitement and adventure.

Alexander recommends the Soccer Superstars series. He likes the biographical style and enjoys learning fun facts about his favourite players. Alexander and his freinds also thoroughly carrying out the quizes at the end of the book and testing each others knowldege on the different soccer stars and their stats and stories. This would be a great way to prepare for the upcoming World Cup!
