GLASSES FOR KIDS (GFK)

I am pleased to announce that Grovedale West PS is participating in the GFK program, involving students in Prep – Year 3. Staff and qualified optometrists will visit our school and offer participating students with initial vision screening and, if required, further testing and glasses at no cost. All screening and testing sessions will be completed during school hours and children who currently wear glasses can participate in the program, which will take place on school grounds.

For children to participate, families can choose to complete either the online consent form or fill in the physical consent form (attached to this newsletter) and return to the school by Wednesday 25th March.

SOMERS CAMP

By all reports our six boys and four girls attending this Camp from Tuesday 10th March to Wednesday 18th March are having a great time.

GRADE 6 CAMP

Well done to students and staff for having a great time at Urban Camp in Melbourne this week. Thanks to parents/carers for being on time to collect the children from Waurn Ponds station on Thursday. A BIG thanks to the staff for organising the camp and for being ‘on call’ throughout it to ensure students visited the many attractions, safely boarded trams and hopped off them at the correct location, checked those with food allergies ate the right foods, administered medication to students requiring it and for helping the children to have an enjoyable camp whilst being away from their own families. NAPLAN (11th - 23th March, Years 3 & 5)

This week students in Years 3 and 5 commenced NAPLAN testing. Students who were absent or missed completing a test can complete them at school until 23rd March. Thanks to our Grade 3 and 5 teachers, Mr Greenwood and Mr Ramage for their efforts to ensure the tests are administered smoothly.

ASSEMBLIES

Everyone is welcome to attend our Assemblies to be held on:

Friday 23rd March 2.30pm - 3.00pm. Some Prep, Year 2, Year 4 and Year 6 students will share their learning.
Thursday 2nd April 9.15am-10.00am. This is our end of term Assembly.

EASTER HAT PARADE

On the last day of term, to have a bit of fun everyone is welcome to make an Easter hat at home and bring it to school to wear at the parade. Come to school wearing a special hat for our Easter Hat Parade.
