March 4th Principal Report
What an amazing week of weather! It is nice to have the weather a little bit cooler, but it has been very wet. I would like to congratulate most of our students who were content to be inside having quiet activities when it was very wet early in the week.
A reminder on those days where the weather is too hot / wet we do call an “extreme weather” timetable to keep our students inside.
Newsletter
Our Newsletter has a different format starting last week and we would be interested to hear your feedback on it.
We feel it gives us a much more scope to present more in-depth articles and information for our community. Therefore, we are going to publish it fortnightly from now on.
The next newsletter will be published 18th March.

Naplan – As has been mentioned this statewide assessment begins for our Grade 3 and 5 students next week. Due to this being on there will be no Assembly on March 13th.
Naplan is fast approaching. Your child will need their headphones and mouse. If they have not got these, their teacher has sent a note home for you to either purchase these items or find them if they have been taken home.
Reader Bags
A note was sent home today with students who do not have a reader bag at school this term.
Dear Parents/Carers
Our Literacy Leaders are working through classrooms to ensure all students have a reader bag in 2026.
Can you please ensure your child returns a reader bag to Kangaroo Flat Primary School by Friday 13th March 2026.
If your child does not have a reader bag, they are available for purchase from the office for $11.
For further assistance, please attend the office or contact the office on:

Congratulations to our Grade 6 leaders.
As you may know, we consider all of our Grade 6 students as leaders of our school. Yesterday, Ms Chaffey-Jones was on yard duty on our oval. She saw some students in an out of bounds area and went across to investigate. What she found made her both happy and concerned at the same time.
She saw some Grade 6 students helping a group of Foundation students to brush the ants off themselves, apparently, they had stumbled on to an ant’s nest. The ants were quite big, and the Grade 6 students were busily brushing them off for them. The foundation students had no shoes on and appeared unaware of two key expectations – where our out of bounds areas are and keep your shoes on.
Luckily, crisis was adverted and all students got back to class unscathed. Our Foundation teachers are reviewing where our out of bounds areas are and to leave nature in nature. It is always wonderful when parents can refer to our Matrix of behaviour expectations. I have attached the matrix again this week.
Canteen News
Unfortunately, Raye is unwell today and she will notify us as soon as possible about her availability for tomorrow. She had completed all her shopping in readiness for reopening our school canteen but sometimes the best laid plans go astray. Fingers crossed for tomorrow. Keep checking your SENTRAL messages please.
We hope all of our families have a great long weekend coming up and we will see everyone on Tuesday March 10th.
Thank you
Faye & Kelsey
