TheirCare News

Hi parents, guardians, staff, and friends! Welcome to Week 7 of Term 2.

We would like to begin by acknowledging the Traditional Owners of the land, the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung and Bunurong peoples of the Kulin Nation, and pay our respect to their Elders, past, present, and emerging.

This week we’re celebrating “Diversity Week”. It’s a special time where we learn about and appreciate the many different cultures, backgrounds, and traditions that make up our community. Through fun activities, stories, and discussions, we’re helping children understand the importance of kindness, respect, and inclusion.

In the afternoons, we kept the energy high with games like soccer, Gaga Ball, cricket, footy, hide and seek and tag. A highlight of the week was our indoor movie session on Tuesday, prompted by rainy weather. The children voted on the film and thoroughly enjoyed the cozy movie day, showing lots of excitement and engagement. Pancake Wednesday continues to be a Favorite at the service. The children love getting involved helping to mix, pour, and flip the pancakes (with a little help, of course). It’s a fun, hands-on activity that encourages teamwork, builds confidence, and ends with a delicious treat.

This week, we have some exciting activities planned to help children explore and celebrate what makes everyone unique:

  • Emotional regulation skills and mindfulness – we’ve created a Calm Box in the resting area. It’s filled with soothing items like soft toys, sensory tools, and headphones that children can use when they need a quiet moment to relax, refocus, or manage big feelings.
  • "Who Are You?" Face Templates – A fun activity where children draw faces that represent themselves, helping them think about what makes them special.
  • Tower building fun – On Tuesday, the children took part in a tower building competition using wooden blocks. They worked together in teams, using creativity and problem-solving to see who could build the tallest or most interesting tower.

It’s been a meaningful and enjoyable Week 7, and we’re looking forward to the weeks ahead!

PUPIL OF THE WEEK

This week’s Pupil of the Week is Ari Sutton, for showing kindness by always looking out for others, offering a helping hand and using kind words and patience. Well done, Ari!
