School Advisory Council

Our first School Advisory Council meeting was held last night, and together with Father Shabin, we extend a heartfelt thank you to all the parent volunteers who attended. Your time, energy and commitment to our school community is greatly appreciated.

I am grateful for your leadership and support and I look forward to working closely with you as we continue to support and strengthen our school together.

A key focus of our discussion was marketing and ways to continue promoting the wonderful things happening at St Mary’s. As part of this, we’ll soon be inviting families to help with a local letter drop of our enrolment flyers. If you are aware of any local businesses who might be willing to display our enrolment flyers please contact one of our SAC members, or Loretta in the office.

Reconciliation Week at St Mary’s

This week at St Mary’s, we have taken time to acknowledge and honour National Reconciliation Week — a significant time for all Australians to reflect on our shared history and to strengthen the journey towards a more just, equitable and reconciled nation.

National Reconciliation Week is held every year from 27 May to 3 June—is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.

It is about strengthening relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous peoples, for the benefit of all Australians.

National Reconciliation Week provides a focus for working towards our goal of a just, equitable and reconciled Australia.

All classes focused on this during the week. See some samples of work completed in class. The SRC also hosted a colouring competition and lunchtime activities in the hall, and we celebrated as a community with a paraliturgy on Wednesday.

We recognise that reconciliation is not just a week-long event, but a continuous commitment to listening, learning, and walking together with First Nations people towards a better future for all Australians.

Let us continue to be people of compassion, courage, and action.

SCHOOL ATHLETICS CARNIVAL

I'd like to send out a HUGE THANK YOU to Dave Witchell for his organisation of our Sports Carnival on May 22. From start to finish, the day was filled with energy, enthusiasm and a wonderful sense of team spirit.

Dave’s hard work behind the scenes ensured everything ran smoothly, and it was fantastic to see so many students getting involved, cheering each other on, and giving their best in every event.

Thank you, Dave, for creating such a positive, inclusive and memorable experience for all. It truly was a great day!

BODY BRIGHT PROGRAMME

The Body Bright program has commenced in all classes. This program, developed by the Butterfly foundation promotes healthy attitudes and behaviours towards body, eating and physical activity.
