Specialists
At St Brigid’s all Foundation students will participate in several specialist subjects. These take place across all 5 days, for Foundation our days are:
Monday - Performing Arts on a fortnightly rotation (even weeks).
Tuesday - Physical Education (PE) and Visual Arts
Wednesday - STEM
Friday - Italian on a fortnightly rotation (odd weeks).
Please note: This means that ALL Foundation students need to wear their sports uniforms on TUESDAY (for PE).
All Foundation students also participate in PMP (Perceptual Motor Program). PMP is a movement-based program which helps younger students improve their hand/eye and foot/eye coordination, fitness, balance, locomotion and eye-tracking skills. Students will participate in PMP on Mondays and Wednesdays. The students will be wearing their normal school uniform for PMP but will be removing their shoes and socks. We would appreciate it if you could practice this at home and please make sure their shoes and socks are clearly labelled, as many students have identical size and style shoes..
Library Day
All Foundation students will be visiting the Library every Friday. In this time they will be allowed to borrow 1 Library book that they can read at home over the week. Please make sure your child returns their Library book on Fridays - there will be a Library tub next to the entrance door in the classroom.
Take Home Reading
During Term 1 all students will begin to take home heart words and 1 book a week for reading, as well as a picture chat with a matching set of question prompts for you to discuss over the week. We ask that you read with your child every night and fill in the reading journal, these will be monitored at school. More information will be sent home when this begins.
