Merry Christmas & best wishes from the Wellbeing Team

We would like to wish all of our students & their families a Merry Christmas & a safe, happy & restful break.

Personally, I would like to extend thanks to Tash Roberts for all her work over the past three years. Tash is off on a new adventure, and we wish her all the best. I would also like to acknowledge the staff for their continued support of our students. A lot of the work conducted in the wellbeing space is done discretely & confidentially & therefore goes unnoticed. Despite this, it is greatly appreciated!

Keeping a check on headlice during the break

Over the holiday period, our students come into contact with many different people. I would therefore encourage families to keep a check on headlice. Attached to the newsletter is an information sheet ‘Treating and controlling headlice’- a useful document produced by the Department of Health. This will support a smoother & more stress-free transition back to school.

Uniform items

Families may need to replace uniform items in preparation for the new school year. Please make contact with me at the College if you require any support accessing uniform, as we have a number of ways in which we can assist.

Support with book lists

If any families suspect they may have difficulty purchasing some book list items, can they please make contact with Jess McGurk PRIOR to submitting book lists. It is unlikely that we can provide financial assistance for whole book lists, however we may be able to assist with some items (depending on the year level and what is actually required).

There are a few avenues that can be explored; however, we are unable to reimburse people for items that have been already paid for, or ordered, which is why it is really important that you reach out BEFORE finalising/submitting your book list this year. If it is left to next year, there could be some delay in accessing items.

Catholic Care Victoria (CCV)- Parent programs & workshops

Over the year, CCV run a wide range of one-off parent programs, as well as lengthier workshops. The delivery is both online & face-to-face & addresses a range of range of useful topics. Some programs are free; however some attract a cost.

Each term they publish a calendar which will feature on the Parent’s Bulletin. In the past, a number of staff & families have participated in CCV programs & have spoken very highly of them. Please see the attached flyer as to what’s on offer in Term 1, 2026.

Supporting your mental health over the holiday period

The holiday break is often pictured as a time of rest, celebration, and connection—but for many people, it can also bring stress, loneliness, pressure, or emotional exhaustion. Changes in routine, family dynamics, financial strain, or end-of-year reflections can take a toll on mental health. Taking intentional steps to care for yourself during this time is not only helpful— it’s important.

This newsletter includes a number of mental health fact sheet with detailed information, coping strategies, and support resources available to you. We encourage you to take a moment to review it and keep it accessible throughout the break—you never know when it might be helpful for you or someone else.

As the year comes to a close, remember that looking after your mental health is an ongoing process, not a holiday task to complete. Small, thoughtful steps can make a meaningful difference. However you spend the break, we hope you’re able to find moments of rest, connection, and care—for yourself and for others.
