Sports Academy News

19 February 2024

Welcome to the 2024 Sports Academy! We are thrilled to have you join us for another exciting year filled with passion, dedication and athletic and academic excellence. We want to extend a warm welcome to both our returning student athletes and those joining us for the first time.

Fitness Testing

We have already conducted our fitness testing and sports coaching sessions to kickstart the year - we even had a special guest appearance from Sports Academy graduate and Gold Coast Suns player Bailey Humphrey who encouraged our students. The fitness testing results will be used to assess current fitness levels and identify areas for improvement.

Sports Coaching Sessions

We are blessed to have an array of quality coaches and staff as part of our program (as listed below);

Soccer: Peter Boyes

Netball: Stacie Gardner and Ramayer Gourley

Basketball: Mike Santo, Heath Johnson and Tahni Hodgens

AFL: Allan Chandler, Boyd Bailey, Scott McDougal, Nathan Boyd and Rhett McLennan

Strength and Conditioning: Malcolm Swinley and Cooper Alger

Nutrition: Danielle Purvis

Physiotherapy: David Francis and his team at Physioworks

Looking Ahead

As we move forward into the 2024 season, we encourage all students and parents to remain dedicated to their training, embrace challenges as opportunities for growth, and support one another in achieving success both on the field/court and in the classroom. Our Sports Academy is more than just a place for athletic development; it is a community built on camaraderie, resilience and mutual respect.

Once again, welcome to the 2024 Sports Academy! Let’s work towards being a better student, better athlete and better person.

Best wishes for a successful and rewarding year ahead!

Student Achievements

Warragul Warriors Under 18 Boys competed in the Dandenong Eltham tournament and had a successful weekend, coming out on top and winning the Grand Final in their division against Sandringham by an incredible 22 points. Well done boys!

Warragul Warriors Under 16 Boys competed in the Dandenong Eltham tournament and had an outstanding weekend, coming out undefeated in their division and taking out the Grand Final by 14 points against Melbourne.

Over the summer break, Campbell Moncrieff was extremely busy playing multiple levels of cricket from Country Week to Sub District Level. The highlight was making the Gippsland Pride Under 18's side - a truly remarkable effort considering he is eligible for the Under 14's age group. Well done, Campbell.
