Well done to Ayla Grbic and Lowanna College Sports Academy volleyball coach Jessie Lawton who both recently played for the Latrobe Valley Volleyball Team and took home the Gippsland Regional League 2024 title defeating Bairnsdale 3-0.
Year 12 student and draft prospect, Alix Tauru, recently joined hosts Riley and Cal on Gettable. Watch the interview on the below link;
Congratulations to Year 12 student Ricky Mentha who participated in the AFL State Combine ahead of the AFL Draft next week.
On the 21st of October seven Sports Academy students competed in the Athletics State Championships. Well done to the following students:
We had 11 Sports Academy AFL students compete in the AFL 9s competition in Warragul recently. It was great to see students proudly wearing their LSA uniform at an 'out of school' event.
At the start of the month 11 students from the college, including Sports Academy students Sam Jones and Kye Micallef, competed in the Haunted Hills School Mountain Bike competition where Kye placed 19th out of 44 riders and Sam placed 7th out of 111 riders. Well done boys!
Our gym has undergone some changes recently, starting with replacing the dividing curtain and updating the photo board at the entrance of the gym which showcases many of our students' (current and previous) achievements.
Thank you to our partners at Physioworks for supporting Sports Academy student Alix throughout this season.
Over the 2024 season, Riley Jankovic played soccer for the Senior Team at Newborough Yallourn Soccer Club. At only 16 years old Riley received the Runner Up Best & Fairest for the Senior Team as well as the receiving the Coaches Award. What an amazing achievement, well done Riley!
Back in Ireland, Miss Sheridan recently won the Grand Final of Cavan, the County she is from (marked as the X in the below collage). Now she will move on to represent her Province (State – marked in the green) in the Final. If her team wins, they will then represent Ulster against the three other areas (marked as the yellow, red and blue Provinces) to be the best in all of Ireland. Good luck Miss Sheridan.
Congratulations to Lowanna Sports Academy Netball Coaches Ramayer and Stacie for signing onto the Gippsland Stars VNL Team for 2025. Ramayer and Stacie are also Coach and Assistant Coach for the Championship Team. We are so lucky to have them both at the college.
