Principal Update

Issue No 12

Term 3 - Week 5

Dear Families

Despite the wintry conditions, our school community continues to thrive, with students enthusiastically engaging in learning, sport, faith and community events.

Many of you will be aware of the recent fire at St Kilian's Parish Church. We continue to keep our parish community in our thoughts and prayers during this challenging time.

While restoration and recovery efforts are underway, the Parish has been using the Parish Hall for Masses on most days. As a result, some adjustments have been necessary for our school operations, including changes to YMCA venue arrangements and music activities. We thank families, staff, students, YMCA and parish personnel for their flexibility and understanding as we work together to accommodate these temporary changes.

The strong partnership between our school and parish remains an important part of who we are, and we are grateful for the support and resilience shown by our wider community.

There are also a number of exciting events on the horizon, including those listed below. We encourage families to take note of these dates and join us as we celebrate the many opportunities for learning, faith and community connection throughout the remainder of the term.

Thank you for your continued support of St Kilian's. Together, we continue to nurture a welcoming, faith-filled and vibrant school community.

Coming up...

Week 6: Catholics Athletics Carnival – Wednesday 20 August.

Week 7: Learning Conversations (Closure Day – Wednesday 26 August)

Book Week – Parade on Friday 28 August.

Enrolments

We are currently planning for 2027. Please contact the office if your child/ren will not be attending St Kilian’s in 2027.

School Uniform

We ask all families to ensure students are wearing the correct school uniform each day.

Recently, a small number of non-uniform items have begun appearing, and we are working with students to maintain consistent uniform standards. Wearing the school uniform correctly helps foster a sense of identity, pride and belonging within our community.

Uniform items are available through the school and can be ordered via the school uniform link.

School Supervision Hours

Before School

Please note that the school grounds are unsupervised before 8:30am

For the safety of all students, children should not be dropped at school before this time unless attending a supervised program.

After School

Students should be collected by 3:30pm, as staff supervision concludes at this time.

If you anticipate being delayed, please contact the school office. Families requiring care beyond 3:30pm are encouraged to use the YMCA After School Care program, which operates from the school hall.

New Playground and Landscaping Project

We are excited to share that our architects plan for this space below.

The project will transform this area through new landscaping, shade structures, and contemporary play equipment designed to support active play, creativity and connection. Construction will commence soon.
