Highlight of the Week!

Year 12 Biology

Learning about ecosystems is important but looking after them is even better. Shout-out to 12A Biology class for their efforts during our 'brain break' this afternoon. It was a great opportunity to put our learning about ecosystems, and biodiversity into action.

Beenleigh Eisteddfod

On Tuesday our school Choir, B-Vox travelled to the Logan Entertainment Centre to compete in three sections at the Beenleigh Eisteddfod. Everyone sang their hearts out and brought home a highly commended (for singing 'Rise Up' and 'Unwritten') and took out first place for the student led section singing 'Here Comes the Sun' with Oscar conducting and Hailey accompanying on piano. 

These results are a testament to the hard work and dedication of all Choir members. Well done all.  

On Tuesday evening it was time for three of our Rock Bands to shine on the stage at the Beenleigh Eisteddfod.  Trial & Error (years 7 & 10) competed in the Pop Band section and received a Highly Commended for their great set. Our year 12 band Dysfunction put on a great show that had the audience rushing to the edge of the stage. Kulleraugen (year 10) put on an incredibly engaging set in the rock band section and came home with a Highly Commended. Preparing a set of three pieces with audience engagement is not an easy task, so well done to all involved.

Qld State Hockey Championships

On Thursday, year 8 music academy student Leo performed the anthem for the opening ceremony of the 10-12yrs Hockey State Championships at the State Hockey centre, Colmslie. 

Well done Leo for performing so beautifully and representing the school in such a professional way.

🌏Learning Beyond the Classroom

Balmoral students recently attended the Amnesty Conference at Brisbane Boys’ College, spending the day hearing from academics, advocates for social change and individuals who have experienced political oppression in Kenya.

It was a powerful opportunity to explore global human rights issues and learn directly from people working to create meaningful change.

🔬 Science in Action!

Our Year 7 Science students have been busy exploring classification systems and learning how to use dichotomous keys to identify and group different organisms.

A great hands-on way to develop scientific thinking, observation and problem-solving skills! 🧪🌿
