 OSHC Update from Libby, the Service Coordinator.

We are half way through the year already and thankfully, the afternoons are getting a bit longer and the mornings lighter. I’m already looking forward to spring and have begun to notice the magnolias and yellow wattle. In Wurundjeri seasons, this time of year is called Guling, it’s the time when cold weather eases and native orchids begin to bloom.  

At the end of last term, the children began a collaborative painting project of a dinosaur’s picnic. There are dinosaurs, birds, picnic food and plants. Elijah and Levi created a swirling storm and Aurora added a blob fish. We are almost finished and already the painting is cheering the room with its bright colours and quirky subject matter. Planning and creating projects together is a great way for children to cooperate and share ideas. The painting has been worked on for several weeks, which teaches patience and perseverance. In our culture of instant gratification, it is good to experience what it is like to achieve something slowly.
