New Staff
Laura Koukoulas has joined our teaching staff and is working in 4 /5 A. Laura comes to us with a great amount of experience and has worked at Scoresby PS in the past as a CRT and for a term teaching Robotics. Laura has replaced Rachel Armstrong and is sharing 4 /5 A with Merran Maguire for the remainder of the year. 4 /5 A have made her feel very welcome, and we hope the community will too.
Salinda Anuchiracheeva, our new chaplain, has also started working at SPS this term. Salinda is already out in the yard playing sports with the kids during recess and lunch, making connections and enjoying being part of the SPS community. Salinda will be seeing students and working with small groups.
If you would like your child to see Salinda, Chaplaincy forms are available at the office. Forms already completed for this year will be recognised if your child needs to continue as a participant in the Chaplaincy Program.
2026 NAPLAN Results
Our 2026 NAPLAN results are in, and we have yet again had some really pleasing achievements. We are delighted with these NAPLAN outcomes, particularly in Maths and Writing.
A lot of work has gone into the curriculum areas through professional development, attending courses at the Victorian Teaching and Learning Academy and participating in Knox Network and Regional Network priorities over the past few years, so it’s extremely pleasing to see these outcomes. Teachers have also planned sequential learning, aiming to lessen gaps in knowledge and application of learned skills.
Congratulations to our SPS Superstars for this achievement, and I extend the accolades to our committed and dedicated staff. It’s fantastic work.
OSHC
At Scoresby Primary School, our Out of School Hours Care (OSHC) program run by After the Bell, has become an invaluable service for working parents, providing a safe, engaging and welcoming environment where children can continue learning, playing and building friendships outside classroom hours.
The program is designed to give families greater flexibility while ensuring children enjoy quality experiences in a familiar setting. From active games and creative activities to quiet spaces for homework and reading, students are encouraged to unwind after school in a supportive environment.
Parents have welcomed the opportunity to know their children are spending time in a safe, supervised environment where fun, wellbeing and social connections remain a priority.
After the Bell offers structured activities that encourage physical activity, creativity and teamwork, while also allowing children the freedom to relax after a busy day of learning.

Celebrating Friendship at Scoresby Primary School
At Scoresby Primary School, we believe that strong friendships are at the heart of a happy and successful school community. Next week, our students will be celebrating the International Day of Friendship - Thursday 30th July, taking time to recognise the importance of kindness, inclusion, respect and connection.
Throughout the day, students will participate in a range of classroom activities that encourage them to appreciate their friends, welcome others, and reflect on how small acts of kindness can make a big difference. These activities support our school values and help strengthen the positive relationships that make Scoresby Primary School such a caring and supportive place to learn.
The International Day of Friendship, recognised by the United Nations each year on 30 July, reminds us that friendship can build understanding, compassion and respect between people of all backgrounds and cultures.
We encourage families to continue the conversation at home by asking their children how they showed friendship during the day and how they can help ensure everyone feels valued and included.
Together, we can continue to create a school where every child feels they belong, friendships flourish, and kindness is part of everyday life.
HEART Garden
Our garden plans have come to a bit of a standstill, as our landscaper has had a family issue and this has put him behind in quoting and all his previous jobs. We are waiting for quotes and plans to come through.
The Rowville Men’s Shed however have made 3 gorgeous shop front stands for us to paint and put in our HEART garden. There is a puppet theatre, a market garden, and take-away shop front. They need a spruce up with paint, but will add some role play fun to our new play space in years to come.
A HUGE thank you to the Rowville Men’s Shed who have made these shop fronts free of charge for Scoresby PS. This is a very welcome donation. Thank you!
