Student Achievements & Updates
14 February 2025
The Lowanna College Sports Academy would like to welcome back our returning students and welcome our new students to the college and the Sports Academy.
We are really excited for a big 2025 and look forward to supporting all of our students to be the best that they can be!
Lowanna College – Pacific Team Sports
The Lowanna College Sports Academy Uniform can be purchased online by using the above link. If there are any problems with the garments, please contact the PTS Team who will be able to assist you.
If students would like to try on sizes before purchasing the uniform, we have some samples in the training tops and shorts.
Please note that the youth tops are very small (similar to kids sizes) so please check this before buying.
Note: It is recommended that students put their FIRST NAME or SURNAME on the back of the training tops.
Shop the latest from Nike Teamwear from Pacific Team Sports. Get kitted up today. The world’s best teams deserve the world’s best apparel.
These sessions start next week and run for SENIOR students and selected students only.
The selected student group have been chosen by our coaches, and we do have the ability to add and remove students from these groups at our discretion. There may be some students that we do not know well yet and we may have the capacity to add them into the sessions where possible.
Note: These are extra training sessions and are not part of the standard LSA timetable.
Session Times
AFL - Tuesday 7.30am
Basketball- Wednesday 7.30am
Students are expected to arrive at 7.15am for a 7.30am start.
Training sessions will be included on students Compass calendar and permission must be provided to allow students to participate.
It is expected that all students have a MyZone Heart Rate Monitor. Year 7 students will be given theirs in the coming weeks as we are waiting for stock to arrive.
New Academy students in Year 8 or above are expected to buy theirs from the General Office for $85. They are used in most lessons, especially in Year 7/8 and all Year 9/10 fitness sessions so it is important that students bring them for ALLsessions.
All students have been given a diary, which we expect them to take to every class.
The diary is a great learning tool, and we would love parents to take an interest in their homework, learning tasks and all other activities/events happening at the college.
25/2/25 - School Photo Day
26/2/25 – LSA Fitness Testing
6/3/25 – Nutrition Appointments begin (starting with Year 8 students)
Students will be provided with more information about this soon and will be given a Nutrition Diary to fill out prior to their individual appointment.
11/3/25 – LSA Group Photo
1/4/25 – Athletics Carnival

Over the Christmas break, Year 8 LSA student, Blake Savige, had a standout performance playing cricket against Gormandale, bowling 5/7 and getting a Hat-trick. Well done Blake!
Over the Summer break, Year 9 student, Campbell Moncrieff, had an outstanding season of cricket, playing for Gippsland GCL and Casey South Melbourne. Well done on a great season Campbell, and good luck for the State Trials!
Last weekend some of our LSA netballers attended the Gippsland Stars preseason opener at the Gippsland Regional Indoor Sports Stadium (GRISS). Our students volunteered as ball girls where they were able to watch a high intensity netball match up close. Both of our LSA netball coaches, Miss Gourley and Miss Gardiner, played in the match, losing by only 3 points!
Sports Academy graduate, Ricky Mentha, has had an impressive start with the Melbourne Demons this year, recently playing in a match sim and proving his talent. Well done Ricky and we look forward to seeing you play on the big screen in 2025!!
Our Year 9 Sports Academy students have been learning about bones, joints and movement anatomy in class where they drew sketches to help reinforce their learning.
Two of our students, Jet Shelton and Blake Polik, were lucky enough to meet some Collingwood FC players after their training session recently.
