Wominjeka Everyone,

National Sorry Day – Tomorrow

Tomorrow, we acknowledge National Sorry Day — a day of reflection and remembrance recognising the pain, loss, and ongoing impact experienced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, particularly members of the Stolen Generations who were forcibly removed from their families, communities, culture, and Country.

As a school community, we honour the strength, resilience, and enduring connection to culture of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We acknowledge survivors, their families, and communities with deep respect and care.

National Sorry Day is an important opportunity for all of us to continue listening, learning, and reflecting on the role we each play in reconciliation and in creating a community where all children and families feel safe, respected, valued, and connected.

We are committed to fostering understanding, cultural safety, and meaningful relationships within our school community today and every day.

🌱 Earth Club Has Begun! 🌱

Last week, we proudly launched our very first Earth Club session at OSHC — and what a fantastic start it was!

This wonderful initiative has been thoughtfully planned and delivered by our amazing Annie, who is a strong advocate for sustainability practices and helping children build meaningful connections with the environment through hands-on learning experiences.

For our first Earth Club activity, the children created their very own chia pets — and it was an absolute hit! We saw so many creative, unique, and imaginative creations come to life. The children loved getting their hands dirty, and surprisingly, the room stayed relatively clean throughout the process!

It was also wonderful to see some of our junior children confidently step up as “professional chia pet makers,” helping and supporting others across the activity. Along the way, children engaged in thoughtful conversations about watering seeds, how plants germinate, and the importance of caring for living things.

The session beautifully combined art, nature, sustainability, and teamwork — creating a calm, creative, and engaging atmosphere across OSHC.

Now comes the important part — caring for our new Earth friends! 🌿Children are encouraged to water their chia pets a little each day and watch them grow over the coming weeks.

We are so excited to see Earth Club continue to grow and become an important part of our OSHC program.
