Announcement: Breakfast Club is coming to Karoo

We’re excited to announce the launch of a Breakfast Club at Karoo PS; thanks to the generous support from Foodbank for giving us this opportunity.

We plan to start slow in Term 4 as we build momentum and make sure everything runs smoothly.

Right now, we’re on the lookout for an industrial toaster to help us serve up warm, delicious breakfasts every morning. If you can help or know someone who can, please reach out!

Parent Podcast: Raising Boys

As we approach Father’s Day and reflect on the important role healthy men play in our society, I wanted to share a podcast episode I found both insightful and thought-provoking for raising young boys.

The three-part episode “Fight Club and Beautiful Boys” highlights the importance of raising boys and young men with strong emotional intelligence—the ability to express and manage their emotions—and emphasises the crucial role that fathers and male role models play in this process.

In this episode, the hosts explore how the movie Fight Club resonates with ideas about masculinity, identity, and emotional expression in boys and men. They discuss how cultural portrayals of “beautiful boys” — sensitive, artistic, and often non-traditional masculine figures — challenge stereotypical notions of what it means to grow up male.
