National Science Week: 12th - 16th August

During Week 4 of Term 3, Camden High School celebrated National Science Week with a series of engaging activities that sparked students' interest in various scientific fields.

Monday: The week kicked off with a Colouring and Poster Design competition. Students collected their paper from the Science staffroom and submitted their entries. During Break 1, Miss Abraham screened the documentary 'Apollo 11' in E08, offering students a captivating glimpse into the historic moon landing. Break 2 saw a lively Science Trivia competition hosted by Mr. Farrugia in E01, where students tested their knowledge on various scientific topics.

Tuesday: Students explored renewable energy by using solar energy kits to create sustainable solutions for Australia. During Break 2, Mr. Nirola guided students in E10 through hands-on activities involving solar-powered equipment, including wind fans and solar bugs. Additionally, students watched an informative video on creating a solar water pump and participated in designing solar lights, with prizes awarded for the best designs. Later, in Period 5, students joined a video conference with the renowned scientist Dr. Karl Kruszelnicki in E11, organised by Mr. McKenzie.

Thursday: The day was dedicated to forensic science. Workshops were conducted by Mrs Bromley, for those who had signed up. Year 9 and 10 students attended the first workshop in Period 1 at the Science staffroom, while Year 7 and 8 students participated in the second workshop during Period 3. These sessions provided a hands-on experience in forensic techniques, engaging students in the application of science in solving crimes.

Friday: To wrap up the week, a Science Week photo opportunity was held during Break 1, capturing the excitement and enthusiasm of the students. Later, the Colouring Competition entries were collected, bringing the week of scientific exploration to a close.
