Welcome Back to Term 4

It has been a wonderful start to Term 4. The sun is shining, there is a real sense of calm around the school, and our students have returned rested, recharged and ready to learn.

It has been great to see everyone settle back into their routines and working incredibly well in classrooms.

Term 4 is always a busy term, but it is also a great one. There is so much to look forward to and so much to celebrate from the year. It is hard to believe we are already at this point!

A big focus for our students this term is our school value of Respect, particularly how we show respect through good manners.

Good manners are such an important life skill. Our students demonstrate them regularly, but it is always worthwhile reminding ourselves of the positive impact simple things such as saying please and thank you, listening to others, greeting people politely and showing consideration can have on those around us.

Grandparents Day

It was wonderful to welcome so many grandparents and grandfriends to St Mary’s this morning for our Grandparents Day celebrations.

We began with a beautiful liturgy before grandparents and grandfriends had the opportunity to visit classrooms and see some of the wonderful learning taking place across the school.

Thank you to Mr Simpson for organising the liturgy and to our staff and students for making our visitors feel so welcome.

Grandparents and grandfriends play such an important role in the lives of our children, and it was lovely to have the opportunity to celebrate them as part of our school community.

Christmas Carols – Change of Date

Please note that there has been a change to the date of our Christmas Carols.

Our Christmas Carols will now be held on Wednesday 9 December due to some clashes in the school calendar.

We acknowledge that this will be a busy week for families, particularly with swimming also taking place. However, with December being such a full time of the year, this is the best available date for our school community.

Further details about the evening will be shared closer to the date.

St Mary’s Golf Day

Our St Mary’s Golf Day is coming up next week, and we’re looking forward to having plenty of families join us, whether you’re playing golf or coming along to enjoy the picnic afterwards.

We encourage all families to get involved and enjoy what promises to be a great community event. All details can be found below.

A big thank you to Tim Arnold from Free Agency, Hazel Ondari from KPA Lawyers, and Beau Turner from Callaway for generously sponsoring this year’s Golf Day. We greatly appreciate your support of St Mary’s.

Hampton Surf Life Saving Club

At Wednesday’s assembly, we were grateful to welcome Sam from the Hampton Life Saving Club, who spoke to our students about surf lifesaving and the club’s Nippers program.

It was a very informative presentation and a great opportunity for our students to learn more about water safety, surf lifesaving and the opportunities available through Nippers.

We encourage any families interested in giving Nippers a try to head along to the club’s upcoming Open Day.

Our Year 3 students also did a fantastic job presenting at assembly and sharing some of the learning they have been completing in class. Well done, Year 3!

D1 Soccer Clinics – After School

We are very pleased to continue building the range of activities available to our students outside of school hours.

This term, D1 Football Development will be offering after-school soccer clinics for students in Years 1–6.  There has been strong interest and the free trial is now at capacity. Families are encouraged to join the waitlist

If the program goes well, we hope to explore an opportunity for our Prep students to be involved in the future as well.

A big thank you also to Katie Slade, who has organised an upcoming before-school Bike Skills program for students to develop their confidence and skills on a bike.

We encourage families to make use of these opportunities where possible. They provide students with the chance to learn new skills, be active and spend time with friends, while also providing families with another option before or after school.

Junior School Disco

We wish all of our Prep to Year 2 students a fantastic time at tonight’s Junior School Disco!

A big thank you to everyone involved in organising the evening. We hope our students have a brilliant night with their friends.

Thanks to our incredible Year 1 Parents for assisting with the set-up!
