Principal's Report

Dear parents and carers,
Welcome back to the second half of the 2026 academic year. I hope you and your family had a great holiday, resting, playing and generally having fun. We welcome our new families to the school.
Annual Report to Community Report: Each year every school produces a report that highlights the previous school year, the things we did, what worked well and includes some data. This report is presented at an open meeting to the community, so questions can be addressed. Our Report to Community Annual Meeting is scheduled for Monday 17th August at 7.00 pm. Everyone is welcome. Please call the office on 97435818 if you plan on attending. Copies of the Annual Report are available at the office, if you would like a copy.
NAPLAN Results for Years 3 & 5: The parent copy of this year’s NAPLAN results have arrived and will be mailed out to all families early next week. If your address has recently changed please let us know so we can make sure it gets to you. Alternatively, if you would like to collect it from the office, or you want your child to bring it home, please contact the office and we will arrange delivery in this alternate way.
Communication: Keeping parents informed about the happenings around school is very important to us as we believe it helps strengthen the partnership between home and school. We have a number of ways in which we send important information in the hope that all parents and carers can access it in some form.
Class Dojo is a great tool where messages can be sent direct to the teachers. It is important to remember that it is a written form, similar to text messaging, so lengthy detailed descriptions are not appropriate in this context. If you have a concern, a short text asking the teacher to contact you is preferable to writing the whole incident down. Please note, I do not get the chance to check Class Dojo often, so if you need to contact me, please call the office and leave a message rather than placing it on Class Dojo, which may not get seen for a few days!
Sentral is the system we use across the school where we can send SMS messages direct to parents’ mobile phones or an email to the parent’s email address.
Please remember for complex issues a phone call or face to face meeting with the teacher is the best way to ensure it gets sorted as quickly as possible. Please call the office to make an appointment if necessary.
Train Rail Crossing Roadwork Disruption: Please be advised that from Tuesday 11th August to Monday 31st August, the Melton level crossing removal project team will be working 24 hours a day to complete the new Melton elevated rail bridge and track, station and continue construction of the new station precinct, car parks, bus interchange and station entrances. Works will be done day and night and will require closure of Exford Road between Brooklyn Road and Staughton Street, and buses will be replacing trains during this time. Exford Road will close from 7pm on Tuesday 11th August and reopen by 7am Monday 31st August. Detours will be in place and access to schools will be maintained, including pedestrian access. For further information please consider signing up by texting MELTON to 0428 581 917.
