Leadership Report

ANZAC Day Dawn Service Reminder – This Saturday

A reminder to families that information regarding the upcoming Dawn Service at Officer Recreation Reserve was shared via Compass over the school holidays.

We are aiming for strong representation from our school community at this important event. All student leaders will be attending, with our School Captains laying a wreath on behalf of the school. We strongly encourage all Year 5 and 6 students to be part of this meaningful opportunity to show respect and connect with their learning.

All families, students, and staff are warmly invited to attend.

We will gather as a school group near the goals at the highway end of the main ground at 5:45am, before moving together to the service.

We look forward to seeing members of our community come together to recognise and reflect.

Voluntary Contributions

Thank you to all our families who have made contributions for student materials and other educational costs through Compass. These contributions are greatly appreciated and ensure we can continue to enhance the learning experiences across all areas of the curriculum for our students. The option to make a contribution is still open and accessible on Compass. It is located in the ‘Course Confirmation/Payments’ section, which can be found under the 9 square icon. If you require any support on how to do this, please do not hesitate to contact the office, and the team will be more than happy to provide assistance.

Parent Information Sessions – Strong Start to 2026

It was fantastic to see such strong attendance and highly positive engagement from families at today’s Parent Information Session, which focused on our Prep–Year 2 Literacy approaches. The level of interest, questions, and conversations highlighted the strength of our partnership with our community and our shared commitment to student learning.

These sessions, which were promoted through Compass, are designed to build understanding of our approaches to Literacy, Numeracy, and Wellbeing, and it has been pleasing to see such a positive response to the first of these sessions.

Each session begins at 1:30pm, prior to Assembly, allowing families to engage with the content and remain on-site for Assembly if they wish. This adjusted timing is in direct response to parent feedback, and early indications show it is supporting stronger attendance.

Parent Helper Information Session is also offered prior to each event at 1:15pm, providing an opportunity for parents to complete the required induction to support school activities such as excursions, incursions, and classroom programs.

Our next session will be held on Friday 15th May, with a focus on our Years 3–6 Literacy approaches.

Term 3 sessions will then turn to Numeracy and Wellbeing approaches at Orchard Park Primary School. We look forward to continuing this strong level of engagement and welcoming more families to our upcoming sessions.

MATILDA JR.

We are very excited to have our Matilda Jr. musical coming up later this term. This year, we have split our cast into two groups to support a smoother and more enjoyable performance experience for both students and families.

Our school production will once again be held at Beaconhills College – Berwick Campus. The production will take place across two evenings, with half of the school performing on each night. Students have been grouped by House, ensuring that siblings will perform on the same evening.

Production Nights:

• Wednesday 17 June – Marrum and Dulai Wurrung

• Thursday 18 June – Wallert and Bunjil

Splitting the production into two casts means there will be fewer students on stage at one time, making it easier for families to spot their child during performances. It also allows us to release more tickets, as last year’s production was a sold-out event.

We are aiming to have ticket sales live by the end of Week 3. We will notify families via the Newsletter, Compass and Facebook once tickets are available, along with instructions on how to purchase. Please note that all ticket sales will be processed through an online platform—no payments can be made at reception.

Unlike last year, there will be no 24-hour restriction on the number of tickets per family. With fewer students performing each night, we are confident that families who stay up to date with school communications will be able to secure tickets.

Please also note that, different to last year, students will be dropped off and collected directly at the venue on their performance night. There will be no modified timetable or school bus transporting students to the venue on these days.

We are incredibly excited for this year’s production and can’t wait to see our community there!

PARENT TEACHER INTERVIEWS

Our Parent Teacher Interviews are coming up in Week 5 and will run across:

• Tuesday 19 May

• Wednesday 20 May

Wednesday will be our later night, with interview time slots available up until 7:40pm.

These meetings provide an opportunity to discuss your child’s academic and interpersonal development with their classroom teacher(s).

Bookings will be going live on Compass late next week. A Compass message will also be sent home to let families know when bookings are open and available.
