From the Principal

Dear St Anthony's Families,
Welcome back to Term 2,
Dear Lord,
As we begin this new term, we open ourselves to new learning, new friendships and new opportunities to grow.
Help us to show Respect in the way we speak, act, and care for one another.
Guide us to practise Inclusion, making sure everyone feels welcome and valued in our school.
Fill our hearts with Empathy, so we can understand how others feel and offer kindness when it’s needed most.
Inspire us to strive for Excellence, giving our best effort in our learning and in the way we treat others.
Walk with us through this term; in our challenges, our achievements and our everyday moments, so that we become a community of hope, courage and joy.
Amen.
ANZAC Ceremony & Caulfield Park
Thank you to the Year 5 and 6 students for leading our ANZAC Day ceremony last week. It is such an important time for us to reflect on our history and on the people who shaped it. With the students we often look at how these events link to our School Gospel Values and how we can learn from past events. I thank all students, staff and family members who attended the ceremony, for their reverence and attendance.
Furthermore, I want to thank all the students and families who attended the ANZAC ceremony in Caulfield park on Sunday the 19th of April. It was wonderful to see such a great turn out. Thank you to Mrs. Campbell for organising this for us.
Soccer - HOLT District
Well done to our Grade 4, 5 and 6 students who competed in the HOLT District Soccer tournament. It was great to see the development of our team throughout the day.
Child Safety: ‘11 Standards in 11 Months’
Throughout 2026 our school will be taking part in the MACS Child Safety Campaign ‘11 Standards in 11 Months’.
During the month of May, we focus on Standard 4: ‘’Families and communities are informed and involved in promoting child safety and wellbeing.’’
On our page on Child Safety, you will find more information about this standard. Please, reach out if you have any questions.
Behaviour Matrix
Over the last 5 weeks of Term One we have completed work that informed the creation of our new positive behaviour matrix.
The idea behind this Matrix is that we have a clear understanding of behaviour that is beneficial to learning. The matrix is written in child-friendly language and focusses on behaviour we SHOULD exhibit, rather than behaviour we shouldn't.
Our four settings are: All settings, classroom specific, playground specific and in the community. The matrix is still in draft form and we are getting feedback from the students, next week.
Have a look below and let us know what you think.
Cross Country
Yesterday, all our Year 3 to 6 students participated in the HOLT District Cross Country. Well done to everyone for completing the run. Mr. Mitchell and the teachers have been training with the students around the school since Term 1.
It was wonderful to see such great effort by all of our runners. Some people take to running and some do not; it was wonderful to see that everyone did give their best. Well done all. Here are interviews with some of our champions:
A Slithery Visitor
As you may remember, when I met the students for the first time during a Term 4 assembly, I mentioned that my family and I own a snake (a Stimson's Python). The students have been asking if they could see it and on Tuesday, Grace, my oldest daughter, brought in the snake (still very small) for the students to have a look at.
Mothers Day Breakfast
On Tuesday morning we will celebrate all our mums and special women in our lives. Our PFA has worked tirelessly to make this event a reality and I want to give a big shout out to Efra and Sandra for pulling this together.
Sean, our PFA President, has been recruiting dads to come and help on Tuesday morning, so that all the mums can put their feet up. But, as always, many hand make light work. So, gents, if you are able to come and help, we are starting at 6.30am. But come when you can, just let Sean know (sean.way@monash.edu)
MACS Mothers Day video - Help Wanted!!!
We are still looking for some (2 or 3) Year Prep, One or Two mums and students, who would like to be part of the MACS Mothers' Day Video. Besides that, it will be a hoot of a video, this is another wonderful opportunity to get our school name out to the wider Melbourne community.
Please, let me know if you want to be involved.
